The Cavaliers traded Big Z during the season last year, and even though he re-signed with them later, the notion that they miss him is a bit of a stretch. But they most certainly do not miss his defense, if thats what we can even consider calling it. Andy’s injury is a valid point, but the Cavs were 8-27 the last game Vareajo played (Jan 5th Loss vs Toronto) so while Andy is one of the actual decent players the Cavs surrounded Lebron with, his impact was hardly the difference between winning and losing. As for Shaq and Delonte, Shaq missed 29 games last year, and when he played was not that effective. Delonte was a strong contributer the last two seasons, but I highly doubt he would be playing on the same team as Lebron, no matter what city. Injuries are apart of the NBA so while Mo and Boobie have dealt with them, so too have players for every other NBA team.

As for Bosh I have read several places that Lebron was trying to court Bosh to Cleveland, but Bosh, like most other professional athletes, actually anyone, chose Miami over Cleveland.

I dont think you can just assume Mike Miller would have come to Cleveland especially when the Lakers were trying to get him as well. The bottom line is, however you may personally feel about Lebron the talent he has played with the last few years , no matter how you slice it is below average for other championship caliber teams, and the biggest reason for the Cavs success, or lack there of this year is the departure of Lebron.

No, it’s not obvious, because you’re ignoring two things:

1) The Cavaliers also lost Shaquille O’Neal, Zydrunas Ilgauskas, and Delonte West, which hurt the Cavaliers’ defense (their strength) big time, and took away their inside defense. Tack on Andy Varejao being out for the year and Mo Williams not being 100% and missing big chunks of time, and you’re missing 6 of the 8 members of the Cavaliers’ rotation last year. Boobie Gibson has also missed time.

2) The Raptors had a deal set up to send Bosh to Cleveland in a sign-and-trade, had LeBron agreed to stay. That would have most likely centered around JJ Hickson and a few 1sts. Mike Miller would have followed for the MLE. The Cavaliers would’ve looked something like this:

PG-Williams/Gibson
SG-Miller/Parker
SF-James/Eyenga
PF-Bosh/Powe
C–Varejao/O’Neal/Ilgauskas

That team would have been a strong contender to win it all.

So no, it’s not obvious at all.

Obviously Lebron made the right decision for his career. Is there even any debate on this anymore? Im friends with several Cavalier fans, and although once the “Decision” was made they had plenty of hate to spew at James, since then they have come along and the vitriol has died down towards Lebron considerably. He gave that team 7 years, 5 playoff appearances and atleast 3 out of this world years including some of the most memorable playoff performances since M.J. and the Cavs wasted it.
