Perks of being the star of the New York Knicks include getting stars to help out with your All-Star Game campaign, getting to see massive billboards of yourself all over town, and getting to go on Late Night with David Letterman.

Amar’e Stoudemire did the latter Thursday night, and talked about his goggles and the eye injury that almost ended his career and led to him wearing goggles nightly.

No, being a star on a New York team doesn’t do this. You’re leaving out one key component, actually two. Winning, and playing like a MVP. David Lee was the star for us the last 3+ seasons. He didn’t get much help. The fact that Amar’e gets “help” as you call it, has more to do with his impact on the Knicks’ winning than anything else. I don’t know if you purposely try to undervalue Amar’e’s season, or if its a legit oversight but come on… It’s not like any other city has billboards of their star all over town, or only New York Knick players can get a seat on Letterman.
