Denver would save a lot of time and energy by getting Melo's approval on where he wants to be traded to. Then all of the other trades that need to go gone can be done. Denver is asking too much from NJ without Melo's consent. Melo has a hard decision to make. If he wants to play in NY, make a reasonable trade with the Knicks and let the chips fall where they may!!!

Its all up to Melo!!! He will do what's best for his career & family. Denver should have consulted with him if their is still speculation if his will sign an extension or not. Personally, I hope he tell them what they don't want to here, that he will not sign with none other than the Knicks and work out a deal with them. The trade will be made and the NBA can deal will all the other trades that are in limbo waiting for this to conclude!!!

I'm not saying 'Melo can't recoup some of that money in endorsements, I'm saying his agents are pushing him to take the extension. Remember this, Melo's current deal was done with his old agents -- CAA gets nothing from his current contract. They don't get paid until the extension, so to them that 30% or whatever really matters.

Why, yes, Kurt, as a matter of fact it does. If Carmelo knows that the Knicks want him, he'll get himself here. Say he leaves that $65 million extension on the table and the new collective bargaining agreement reduces Anthony's deal by 30 percent. He still makes $46 million in salary. You don't think he can make that up by playing for a really good basketball team in NYC? This is not like LeBron, who was already well known globally. The exposure of playing in NYC, for a team that would be at least a fringe contender, would make him many tens of millions in endorsements and other business deals. It's a no-brainer for Anthony to game this so he winds up in New York, assuming the Knicks want him.
