As far as I'm aware, Shaq's been a pretty well-behaved, good-natured individual so far this year, and most likely in years past. So, when he makes a statement such as this, it's something that I definitely pay attention to. I watch basketball for my home team (the celtics), but I'm not what you'd call an avid follower. And I have to say that some calls are just downright confusing. Replays make it even more confusing. I'm not saying one side is more right or wrong, but in Shaq's case, he tends to never get the benefit of the doubt. It's simply a matter of him being bigger than anyone and can sell a foul that never happened. It's a disturbing trend, especially when plays from Shaq can revitalize the Celtics team at times.

Professional sports may be going a little overboard in regards to allowing players to comment on the game. I understand that the players represent the league, but Shaq's comments about the refs were not so derogatory that it brought shame to the entire NBA. He has a valid point in stating that the game needs to be called the same...both ways. Comments like that need to be made from time-to-time to keep the refs in check....and out of Vegas. (*oops....did I say that out-loud?)
