Lebron’s talk about contraction (even though he’s never heard of the word) is timely because some of these teams are really, really bad. These bad teams are the reason why nobody pays attention to the NBA during the season, and viewers only watch when the stars play, as the ratings of the Lakers-Heat game on Christmas Day tells us. The league can’t survive with just half its teams with winning records. The NBA needs more juice during the season.
