How will these moves by Orlando affect their Contender/Pretender status?

if you can move Vince and acquire Gil, thats a no brainer, you would be getting for more for your money. Moving Gortat doesn’t sound like a smart move, I would move Lewis. Because Washington is eager to get Wall as far away from Gil, and would want Vince’s expiring contract, this isn’t rocket science. If Denver had any sense they would be trying to get Gil in a 3 way with NY or NJ for Melo. To have a chance in the East, Orlando has to go after Gil or Melo, but the same rules apply to the Knicks too, something needs to happen soon because the NBA Xmas schedule looks entertaining and any of these trades could affect some of those games..

Great move for the Wiz, especially if they can somehow land Gortat. He could push Mcgee in practice and hopefully (for Washington’s sake) get JaVale a little tougher. As for Orlando, an extreme panic move. I live in D.C. and have seen first hand the erosion that is Gilbert Arenas’ game. He is aloof and a troubled young man, all that plus like you mentioned not a good fit in Orlando. I fear that the Magic will try to make him more of a spot up shooter than his natural fit as a play-making combo guard. Plus if this doesnt work out, Orlando has two years to try and convince Dwight that they are headed in the right direction, problem is, they probably aren’t.
