Nice game by the Knicks. I wonder if the Celts thought they would just stroll through the Garden with an easy win or if the Knicks are for real. We'll discover more about this team in the coming weeks.

I agree with your broad assessment that the Knicks are now a legit team, no not a contender, or elite like the Celtics, Lakers, Spurs or possibly Magic, but are in the conversation with the Bulls, Thunder and Hawks as solid teams. More impressive is that New York is one of the youngest teams in the league, and although last night was very difficult, teams need to learn from losses like that. It is up to Mike D'Antoni to make sure they do not regress, but improve and maybe just maybe in a year or so, New York can get the C's back. However I think last night made it quite clear The Knicks need to make a move. Im not saying it HAS TO BE MELO, but Mayo and Gasol, Chandler in the offseason or something to that effect. A'mare went toe to toe with the best defense in the league, and yes Shaq and Jermaine didnt play, but IMHO that doesnt mean anything. Shaq has never been a good pick and roll defender, and Jermaine is no where quick enough to stay with A'mare. I know advanced stats fans will ask, "How could Carmelo have helped New York last night?" Well, if the Knicks would have had melo for instance. Amare would not have had to log those heavy minutes, and it was clear in the 4th his legs lost some juice. From key rebounds, to that last 5-foooter (foul not withstanding). Amar'e needs rest before his body breaks down, but he nor Felton can do so without this team going on a real nosedive. Wilson will demand a lot of $$$ next offseason, and with him playing career basketball and while A.R. rots on the bench NYK need to make use of both of them. Mr Walsh, its your move....
