As a rule, big men with these type of leg/knee problems rarely bounce back. In this case unfortunately he never did anything in the NBA to bounce back from. Sadly, from a competitive sports standpoint, he will never accomplish or meet the anticipated expectations to reach his potential but he is obviously set for life financially regardless.

Zydrunas had a problem with his feet not his knees early in his career in Cleveland. I know Z missed his rookie season though because we also drafted vitali potapenko(sp?) the same year.

A correction. Zydrunas Ilgauskus’ issues were with his foot, not his knee. he still has multiple screws in the foot from surgeries in the late 90′s. It seems as if this may be a lot more serious than what Big Z went through, although he did miss parts of three seasons and went on to play in multiple all star games.
