Liked the article, and I agree that we’re in the point guard era. All these dominant points have implications for defense. You can’t stop them on the perimeter, so you have to stop them at the rim.I talked about it while ranking the top 5 NBA defenses thus far.

Russell Westbrook is the alpha, not Durant. Durant may take more shots and be The Guy at the end of most games but Westbrook is the leader. I realized this watching Durant slump his shoulders in the playoffs last year. Artest was harassing Durant into oblivion and it was Russell Westbrook huddling the team for a pep talk & reassuring KD. Durant is meek and we love him for it.

I’m a fan of the Saturday Starting Five. And I agree – we are in a heyday of point guards. It makes it fun to watch any of these teams. Paul’s 19 assists last weekend made for an exciting game (and I’m a Hornets fan, of course) but watching Rondo on Thursday was the best I’ve seen so far.
