Allen Iverson has landed in Turkey, photos are classic

Allen Iverson

We promise we will not be bringing you wall-to-wall coverage of Allen Iverson in Turkey. Even though when the European Turkish fans watch him jack up contested 15 footers ignoring the open guy beyond the arc, we want to see their faces.

However, we do bring you this: The American basketball icon has landed in the land of his new team and the photos from the airport — like the one on the right — are classic. Too good to ignore. The Washington Post’s Michael Lee said it best on twitter:

Man, those photos of Allen Iverson arriving in Turkey look like he’s been taken hostage.

Iverson’s arrival in Turkey was delayed after he missed his first flight over. Read into that whatever you wish. Iverson signed a two-year, $4 million deal with Besiktas Cola Turkey of Istanbul.

I’d say this is the last of us taking about Iverson in Turkey, but if everything is as eye-catching as these photos we’ll bring you more.

Kurt, I lived in Philadelphia during the Iverson years and we WANTED him to take the contested 15 footers instead of the open man clanking another jumper. He took us to the Finals with his ballhogging (a place where many of todays stars have never been) and when he went to Denver he stopped ballhogging because he didn’t have to anymore. Watch and study the players that you love to write about. It’s called homework, Kurt.

Good luck to Iverson in Turkey. Repair your attitude first and your image will follow.

Why exactly would you not report more on Iverson? Just because he is in Turkey? Or because he is not in the NBA. Last I checked he is still playing Pro Ball and this site is called “ProBasketballTalk” so I would say he still fits the bill. Unless you change the name to NBA Talk.. there is no reason not to follow Iverson over there and keep us updated in my opinion. (and that goes for all other notable players overseas)… Unless you as a site administrator would prefer your readers to go elsewhere to find news, but that just doesn’t make sense now does it?
