After seeing the lieing and the greed from the ownership side when David Stern backed the theft of the Seattle Sonics franchise by an out of state ownership group and hearing how they needed the new stadium to make the finances work, this does more to expose the fallacy of that argument than anything else they could do. Make it a hard requirement for ownerships groups to not be able to spend more on payroll than their franchise takes in. The owners could fix things themselves by not offering the ridiculous contracts and living within their means. But Noooo, they choose not too and blame someone or somebody else for creating their financial predicament. Who can blame a player for jumping at the chance to get paid?

Mike Conley isn't even the best example of stupid contracts NBA owners hand out. Just the fact that Joe Johnson got $126 million for not showing up in the playoffs is an indictment of NBA owner stupidity.
