The author doesn't know Mormons, Utah or the Utah Jazz. He has to write something about the Jazz so he can move on the teams he wants to cover like Miami, Chicago, LA, etc.
How will the Jazz win less games this year than last, when we lost games due to injury and Boozer's general lack of desire. As mentioned above the Jefferson does not replace Boozer, Millsap does. You now have Jefferson, Millsap, and Kirilenko all in more productive roles. You finally have a defender in Bell. You have Williams and Okur and Miles. You end up with better chemistry and more maturity.
I'm not saying they are going to beat the Lakers, but they are better than last year and will win more games.

Why does everyone keep talking about Jefferson like he's supposed to replace the role that Boozer had in the offense? We already had Boozer's replacement in Paul Millsap. Millsap will take over the role that Boozer had in scoring transition buckets and taking those mid-range jumpers off picks. The Jazz brought Jefferson to have a reliable low post scorer, something Boozer definitely was not and something the Jazz haven't had since Karl Malone left. We need Jefferson to be the one grabbing rebounds, blocking shots and taking the ball in the low post and going up against all those dudes on the Lakers who routinely shut down Boozer when he tried to shoot anywhere inside of 15 feet.

Thank God for guaranteed contracts! I hope he gets well soon, the Bulls still gonna suck in my opinion, but we'll see. Everyone is saying they could make the eastern conference finals, I don't see it, with or without Boozer. Boozer had surgery this morning. Here is a great article by a disappointed bulls fan. http://www.lowpostnews.com/bulls/brothers-gonna-work-it-out/

Don't underestimate the value of the last item in both "Key Departures" and "Key Additions". While it cannot be measured quantitatively, the news of a certain power forward tripping over a duffel bag in Chicago and breaking his hand send waves of relief through the Utah fan base that this year would NOT be business as usual.

Nice obscure mormon reference - unfortunately Joseph Smith Jr. never actually set foot in Utah, but thanks for humoring the Utah Mormons..
I think your prediction is pretty dead on however I think Al Jefferson will exceed your expectations and should be in the All Star game. I also think you also missed a key change on the team. Back up Pt Guard Earl Watson is a great upgrade.
Kirilenko plays his best ball at the 4 spot and will get more time at that spot with Boozer gone and Big Al able to rotate to the 5.
If nothing else at least our Star Big Man didn't just break his hand tripping over a duffle bag. Thanks again Chicago!
