Heat first practice "intense," LeBron has ice on elbow

Sep 28, 2010, 2:30 PM EST

Thumbnail image for Heat_logo.gifThere was no discussion of it and it is probably nothing, but you had to notice — LeBron James had an ice pack on his right elbow, the one that gave him problems though the playoffs, after the Heat’s first day of practice Tuesday.

What should we read into that? Not much. NBA teams go through more ice at the end of a practice than Matsumoto Shave Ice does on a hot day. Everybody gets everything wrapped in ice. Still, something to watch going forward.

Aside that, the reports from our man Ira Winderman from the South Florida Sun Sentinel and Michael Wallace of the Miami Herald are of a pretty intense first practice. A lot of pent up energy to be burned off. As Winderman quoted Bosh saying:

“Everything is going to be intense the first day. It’s sustaining that intensity.”

Wallace added “LeBron’s 4-man team of Pat Beverley, Joel Anthony and James Jones dominated last stretch of work.”

Aside that, media didn’t get to see much of real interest. Nor will they all week — that was the reason the Heat took off to Eglin Air Force Base near Pensacola in the first place. To get the Heat to bond away from prying eyes for a week.

So, we’ll keep prying and brining you updates. Because we care.

The Heat was at Hurlburt Field practicing. Technically Hurlburt is located on Eglin. But the locals know the difference. Please get this right!

I believe the ice-pack was intended for the use on his over swelled narcistic head! I don’t believe there’s enough ice in the Anartic to reduce that swelled ego.

The HEAT is practicing on Hurlburt Field not Eglin AFB.

Why is it that the white dominated media sports writers always try to make black athletes out to be bad characters in a movie scene. “Heat first practice intense, Lebron has ice on elbow”. All of this bad press is coming from white male dominated sports media. Guys who couldn’t hold the water bucket for the team waterboy in high school. Really, stop the presses, get a life. Your making a controversy where there is none with your pen. Let Lebrons ball playing do the talking, because you guys(white male dominated media) sure aren’t. You guys did it to Ali, and ever since you think your justified in writing anything you want by making up stuff. Sure you can be tough on some white male athletes, but c’mon true sports fans can see whts going here. This guy(Lebron) has been one of the most dominating players in the NBA over the last three yrs. But yet you guy(white male dominated media) continue to castigate him for exercising his free agency rights. This hoopla over how he (Lebron) announced his choice of playing for the Miami Heat on national TV is poppycock. Because if we just pause for a moment and think back, it was you the media who kept up a media barrage on which team , and how the “King” was the most sought after athlete seeking free agency. So who can blame the guy for how the way he made the free agency announcement. And as for the city of Cleveland, and the Sate of Ohio fans I have three words. GET OVER IT you loss.

    -John-
Im all for bashing the Media hype-machine, when its warranted, but you’re going off like “Angry Black Man” for no reason here. where is the ‘controversial’ or ‘making up stuff’ in this article??
C’mon maaan, save the rage for good use!

  14. LOL - Sep 28, 2010 at 3:47 PM

    John
Are you black. Cause what I see is an angry black guy trying to stir controversy about so called white media by saying they are talking smack about black athletes. The report was that he iced his elbow. Where is the race problem and controversy.
All you did was go on a rant about race that had nothing to do with this. Seems like some reverse racism trying to start something that isnt there. save your rant for something that deserves it. talking about iceing and elbow doesnt qualify as the white media beating up on blacks. It just equals idiots like you talking abut something thats not here

The Cleveland Clinic found NOTHING wrong with that elbow during the 2010 playoffs.

  16. mudcat5 - Sep 28, 2010 at 3:51 PM

The Cleveland Clinic found NOTHING wrong with that elbow, reportedly bothering Lebron during the 2010 playoffs. It’s all in LBJ’s head.

  20. Sguy2130 - Sep 28, 2010 at 4:08 PM

Haha, LBJ thinks everyone is dumb enough to buy his fake hurt elbow routine. He’s really trying to play this out….what a clown.

And in far less important news, a 17-month-old boy was beaten to death in Pennsylvania by his mother’s boyfriend for being “too girly.”
Figured I’d post it here, since MSNBC couldn’t run the story on its main pages due to the need to save column inches to report on peoples’ achy joints.
