Orlando believe 12 is better than three when it comes to Miami Heat

Sep 27, 2010, 11:07 PM EDT

Jnelson_Dhoward.jpgIf you like messin’ with Sasquatch, then go to an Orlando Magic practice and start asking questions about the Miami Heat. Pretty much the same reaction.

Orlando general manager Otis Smith led the “hey, maybe they should play a game before we anoint them” cries, as reported by FanHouse.

“They’ve got three, and we’re solid 1-12. Until they start playing the games, it’s just a team on paper.”

And the collection of quotes just goes on-and-on.

“I got tired of the Heat as soon as LeBron James announced he was going to Miami,” scoffed Magic center Dwight Howard Monday…

“ESPN is like ‘all Heat, all the time,’ ” remarked Magic coach Stan Van Gundy. “This isn’t about us getting together for training camp and the theme is we have to beat the Heat. That’s ridiculous. There are a lot of good teams. They aren’t the standard bearer.”

“We will see each other down the line in the playoffs, and that will take care of itself,” said Magic guard Vince Carter.

For all the talk now, the playoffs — which don’t start for seven months — will be the testing ground. During the season teams don’t get a lot of time to really prep for each other, during the playoffs there are far more adjustments. There is a better ability to isolate weaknesses and go after it.

Can the Magic run the Jameer Nelson/Dwight Howard pick and roll, spreading the floor with shooters that keep Miami’s big three from really helping, and beat the Heat? Can Boston just overwhelm the Heat with defense and a physical front line? Are the Lakers still just deeper and better than everybody?

The answers don’t come until May at the earliest. Until then, we’re just messin’ with Sasquatch.

The Heat (& ESPN,CBS & friends) are all talk. I wish that they were all action instead. Just a Magic fan.

Chris don’t hate and you are scared half to death that your teams are in trouble.Your foul mouth and manners is a sign of how scared you are. I will check with you when playoffs start to see if you have learned anything. Plus wash your mouth with soap and manners.

wow, chris is a sore loser magic fan and the season has yet to start…i cant wait to see how much he hates miami after 65+ wins and a championship this year

The Magic and other teams are upset about all the Heat talk. I get it. But, what has Orlando done to improve in the off-season from last year’s dismantling at the hands of the Celtics? Ok, they picked up Quentin Richardson which gives them another shooter and some toughness. Vince Carter is another year older and proved a flop in the playoffs. Boston, Chicago, and Miami are all better. Absent a quick, creative perimeter player, I think Orlando will struggle again when the weight is all on Howard’s shoulders. Unless he’s worked hard on his post game and shoots free throws better, that’s still an achilles heal.

Haha heat fans, keep expecting an unbeatable team, it will just be funnier when your team fails when it matters and you jump off the bandwagon again.

Yet another Kurt Helin “special report”. Wow, this guy is quite the sports writer, isn’t he folks?
Eveytime I think there might be some iteresting news around the league, I see it’s only Kurt offering up his little quote or quip, packaged in some fabricated controversy.
I’ve got to remember…if its PBT, it may be Kurt, and therefore worthless, so don’t bother with the click.

I wouldn’t be to quick to label chris a Magic fan.
In reality he sounds like a Cavs fan.
A Magic fan would have never said Go Celtics.
