NBA 2K11 Ratings released

Sep 23, 2010, 7:20 PM EDT

For those of you that are interested, the player ratings for every projected starter in the league in NBA 2K11 were released today. With all of the appropriate disclaimers about how video basketball is different from actual basketball, here are some interesting notes about the ratings.

-There’s a three-way tie between LeBron James (97), Dwayne Wade (97), and Kobe Bryant (97) for the highest-rated player in the game. Apparently Q-rating was not a factor in NBA 2K11′s formula.
-Rounding out the top 5 in player ratings are Chris Paul (95) and Carmelo Anthony (93).
-Kevin Durant (91) has the sixth-highest player rating in the game, behind the four aforementioned players and Deron Williams (92).
-The highest-rated Celtic is Rajon Rondo (87).
-Stephen Jackson (84) has a higher rating than Paul Pierce (83), Kevin Garnett (80), and Ray Allen (79). He also beats out Dirk Nowitzki, whose rating is also 83.
-The Heat’s starting five have a combined rating of 411. The Lakers’ starters have a combined rating of 411 as well.
-According to 2K11, Indiana’s Josh McRoberts (54) is the worst projected starter in the NBA.
-Tim Duncan (90) is the highest-rated big man, with Pau Gasol (89) and Dwight Howard (88) nipping at his heels.
-John Wall (81) has a higher rating than Evan Turner (76), but a lower rating than Gilbert Arenas (83.)
-The Clippers, Raptors, Pistons, and Timberwolves all have no starters with a rating of 80 or higher.
The game is set to be released on October 5th.

What do you have against Stephen Jackson? He and Gerald Wallace, clearly the best players on the Bobcats, are appropriately rated. Jackson is a 21/5/4 clutch player with defense, after all…
Joe Johnson being rated 88 is an egregious mistake, however. Dirk’s rating has seemed to draw the ire of a lot of 2K fans, but I really doubt his offensive abilities will be diminished – he’ll still be a very, very good player to use.

When the Heat add Dampier, that 411 will go up about 10 points I think.

how n da world did cp3 beat deron williams as da best pg cp3 was out most of da year not hatin but deron willams carred da jazz to me he da best pg n da gm

  7. Brandan - Sep 24, 2010 at 7:58 AM

It is cause the way that game is engineered the overall are assigned after a combined amount of abilities determined by the stats of the previous season and not how far the team went in the season/playoffs. I also like to add that the Pistons never have a starter over 80 but their lineup is pretty though cause none of them are below 73. also based in the game mechanics you can’t take too much in consideration the overall rank cause sometimes their ability in cartajn area makes them more useful than a 90+ player.

where is d rose? why use him to do adds for the game and not publicize his rating? he has to be high 80′s low 90′s

  9. Sengyn - Sep 24, 2010 at 12:00 PM

Chris Paul is the best pg in the league, his skill set and heart exceeds deron williams, that’s why his rating is higher , um i think maybe kobe an dwayne wade should be at 96 , an Lebrons rating is fine , but either way besides Joe Johnson who should be a 84-86 , an Gerald Wallace should be 86-87 , other than that these stats are fine, they are pretty accurate.

Ratings are a little bit weird to me for some players like Duncan in 2010-2011 being a 90 compared to Gasol whose has a slightly less rating at 89. I think at this point and time that Gasol is better than Tim Duncan. Also Dirk shouldn’t be an 83 especially if Duncan is a 90.
Other than that I fine with the initial ratings besides as the season progresses most of those are gonna change. Last year Kobe was the best overall player but by seasons end it was LeBron.

Brandon jennings a 75???not feeling that or the paul gasol rating but overall i dont think it’ll affect the actual game….just have to know the do’s and dont’s with players…
    oh yeh…derek fisher a 69? c’mon man lol

Haha Gasol better than Duncan thats a laugh every move that Gasol does is a copy of what Duncan did dont give me none of that and by the way Gasol is a softee Duncan in his prime dominated Gasol not even a close competition

  13. KO8EFiNaLsMvP - Sep 25, 2010 at 2:13 PM

u idiot, gasol is better than duncan at this time…yes duncan was better in his prime, but hes not in his prime rite now is he? ya i thought so. plus gasol is a better passer than duncan ever was, and duncan was the focus of the spurs, if pau was the focus of the lakers, then ur argument would hold even less. also stop with this gasol soft crap, he dominated in the finals and could very well have walked away with mvp if kobe didnt get it.

  15. Stephen Jackson is a Joke - Sep 26, 2010 at 12:35 PM

Normally I don’t even bother leaving comments for this kind of post, but to say that you would take stephen jackson over any of the Big 3 in Boston is ridiculous, even at this stage of their careers. His defense is only there when he cares. To say he’s better than Dirk (and Chauncey Billups (83), Yao Ming (83, although it’s likely because of his durability), well, I think the fact that John included that tidbit in his article says enough.
While I agree Joe Johnson is high at 88, both him and Stephen Jackson should be lower. Baron Davis, Ron Artest is at 79 – that’s where I see Capt’n Jack.

  16. hajo - Sep 28, 2010 at 9:26 AM

Why is it that people always hate on Joe Johnson and his ratings? Joe was voted the most underrated player in the NBA by his peers last november in a poll of 390 NBA players (basically the entire league). Are you guys really comparing him to S-Jax? Really? JJ is a 6’8 240lb SG with PG handles. He is a great passer (avg over 5apg the past 5 seasons). Deadly from long range (career 38% 3pt shooter). A very good onball defender as well as a physical nightmare for opposing SGs. His rating is deserved. Jackson is good but not even in his league.

i still dont get how rondo has better rating than the truth paul perice…..like rondo is sick and all but still i dont see that being right. Durants rating should aslo be a tad higher, he had his blow out season this year….scoring champ and everything and all almost leading his team to beat the bitch ass lakers….

  19. Kevin Clark - Oct 2, 2010 at 12:40 PM

Ratings or no ratings, U got Rondo, Ray Allen, Pierce, Garnett, and in my starting lineup for the game “The Diesel”, even the Miami Heat cant mess with that. Thats legitimate offense in every position and defense. Celtics will be the truth in 2k11 and on the real court.

  20. demar - Oct 3, 2010 at 7:57 PM

so you think his rating is going to a ten?

  21. Z - Oct 5, 2010 at 12:02 AM

first of all cp3 isnt the best point guard he was injured last season, rondo should be like a 94 because he is beastly and is UNSTOPPABLE. The only thing rondo as to work on is his jump shot and he could go down as one of the best point guards of all time. what doesnt he do? he scores, assits, rebound, and steals. did u see him in the playoffs! 2k word to the wise ya’ll have to up his rating at least to a 94! he has better defense than cp3 and D. Williams. yes rondo is the best player on the celtics. i give paul pierce is props leading the team to a ring BUT HE IS NOT ON RONDO’S LEVEL.
