Quote of the day, Ron Artest wants LA to trade the Clippers for the NFL's Chargers

Sep 21, 2010, 9:32 AM EDT

“Maybe we can swap, the Chargers for the Clippers. No disrespect to the Clippers. You can have them back. I don’t mean that in a disrespectful way. I really like the Clippers, but I feel they deserve their own fan base because in L.A. they’re overshadowed. The Clippers deserve a shot at having their own identity.”

–Ron Artest at a media event in San Diego to promote the Lakers preseason game in the city (via Kevin Ding of the Orange County Register). The Clippers came from San Diego to Los Angeles a few years after Donald Sterling bought the team in 1981. They have been to the playoffs four times in the Sterling era.

I agree. The Clippers should go back to SD. Even if they do what the Angels did and make themselves the Los Angeles Clippers of San Diego because just having the LA label is tremendous for revenue. I’d be fine with the LA Clippers of SD though. SD has a very nice fan base. They would do well and have their own spot. The people out west would love the Sac/LA/SD rivalry truly renewed.

Don’t leave out the San Francisco Warriors.
It has to suck to be the LA Clippers. They have to create their own identity. How does Stern continue to let them stay in LA as the forgotten team. Move them to San Diego or Las Vegas. The new revenue streams must get the excited.

    I love Ron Ron.
He nailed that one. L.A. does not want or need The Donald Sterling Shipwreck. Go away. Snap your ACLs elsewhere.

Bring the clippers back but leave sterling in LA.No, you can’t have the Chargers. They are the only sports franchise we have.Sorry Padres but it’s true.

I dunno about that one, Salty… SD fans couldn’t come out in full support for the Chargers home opener and that game was blacked out. If the Chargers were in LA, they’d always sell out, no matter who they were playing. So I say lets move on this trade!! LOL

Woops didn’t see the reply button, so here’s a repost…

Who cars what Artest has to say? Sterling will never move the clippers.

Better Yet Anaheim… DTS wont do it
He’s already had plenty of chances to do so
no way will he do it
Only way it happens if somebody buys his team
Ron Artest.. Be careful.. As soon as the CLIPS start BEATING ON THE LAKERS ( beginning in the 20 11 season and to occur for years to come)
The Lakers will be the team on the outside looking in Now they are One Wrecked KOBE Knee away from that happening already!
