According to Marc Spears of Yahoo! Sports, the Hornets have signed Mustafa Shakur to a contract. New Orleans had signed Shakur to a partially guaranteed contract on August 23rd.

A four-year starter at Arizona, Shakur has bounced around Europe and the D-League since leaving college. He has appeared in a combined seven NBA games with the Kings and Timberwolves, and has spent the remainder of his time playing for the Tulsa 66ers, Prokom Tefil Sopat, TAU Ceramica, and Panellinios BC. The 26-year old point guard was a D-League All-Star and made the D-League 2nd team in 2010.

Congratulations to Mustafa Shakur out of Philly. I love when D-Leaugers, and players who played overseas just to get a shot in the NBA get their chance. He has an opportunity to back up CP3. He can do alot of things on the court to help them. He’s a big combo guard who can score, defend, rebound and pass. He gets into the passing lanes and is very athletic. I’m happy he’s getting this chance.
