Dwight Howard helping out youth in Haiti

Sep 1, 2010, 1:43 PM EDT

Samuel Dalembert is not the only NBA player who hasn’t forgotten about the devastation in Haiti.

Dwight Howard announced that he will co-host the Concert for a Cause… Remembering Haiti scheduled for Sept. 15 at the House of Blues in Orlando (via the Orlando Sentinel). He also will be traveling to Haiti this month and the Dwight Howard Fund will be making donations to programs to help young victims of the earthquake.

The Jan. 12 quake killed an estimated 230,000 and left 1 million people homeless on the island nation.

Thank you Dwight. I cannot say thank you enough for what you have done and continue doing for my fellow countrymen. Only God can repay you for what you are doing. I will certainly keep you in my prayers. I was already a fan of yours, I am now even a bigger fan.
    Thank you

These are things we’d like to read or hear about rather than what took place a couple of months ago. While charity was on the background of the so-called “decision,” it was not, by any means, at the forefront and the reason for doing it. Kudos to Mr. Dalembert and Mr. Howard for not just doing what is right and what is needed, but also, for being the ultimate and complete sportsman. I was not a fan but I wish the best for you and your career. Thank you for being HUMAN!!!
