D.J. Mbenga denied chance to not play for the Lakers this season

There were some internet rumblings that D.J. Mbenga might be close to re-signing with the Lakers. Dave McMenamin of ESPN LA reports via Twitter that’s not what the kids call “true in any sense of the word.”

According to a source, the Lakers are not interested in re-signing center D.J. Mbenga, despite an internet rumor that says the contraryless than a minute ago via Dave McMenamin

So there’s that. Mbenga played 7.2 minutes for the Lakers last season, but with Andrew Bynum probably healthier than he has been, his minutes are even more useless, and LA’s tax-strapped as it is after signing Steve Blake in the offseason. Better luck elsewhere, big guy.
