Tex Proud,
The author of this blog was blatantly using SARCASM, doh! He's clearly making fun of all of the New York bloggers claiming that if Houston lands Mello, it was only because of the no income tax in Texas excuse which is obviously BS. HE WAS MAKING FUN OF NEW YORK SNOBS!
I grew up in Houston, I still follow all of their sports teams and I don't appreciate idiots like you running around the web... acting like a jackass and giving Houstonians a bad image!
So please, Tex Proud, keep those rebuttals of your's to yourself, leave the comfort of the library's free DSL and A.C. and just go back to your trailer on the out skirts of Manvel.
Regards,
Tard Aborter

Nice article...did I sense a little bit of sarcasm about New York being the BEST CITY IN THE WORLD!?! I'm from Houston, and I love NYC. But they still think that we all ride horses down here. I don't understand why anybody would want to play for NYK...they are going nowhere fast and they can't afford to give up the people that they would have to part with to get Melo. The Rockets still have a good team after giving up (at least what has been rumored) what it would take for Melo to come to town.

Why is it that every big name on the market must consider NY first? Congratulations you have good food and shops. But you do not have the best people.
Florida, Tennessee, and Texas are the only states with NBA franchises that do not levy a state income tax, and while Carmelo would be able to clear half of his salary without paying a state income tax if he went to Houston, he would still have to pay state income taxes when he played road games against teams not located in Texas (Spurs/Mavs) and Florida (Heat/Magic). Carmelo also would have to pay a $2500 per game privilege tax when he played in Tennessee against the Grizzlies. Significant tax benefits, but the tax man still cometh when he would play on the road.
