Chicago, Milwaukee lead the league in back-to-backs with 23

Aug 10, 2010, 4:26 PM EDT

With today’s release of the 2010-11 NBA schedule, one interesting thing to look at is which teams will be playing the most back-to-back games next season. Bradford Doolittle of Basketball Prospectus was kind enough to go through each team’s schedule, count all the back-to-backs, and put each team’s number of back-to-backs in descending order on a handy list — click over to Basketball Prospectus to check out the full list.

Here are a few notable things from the list:
- Chicago and Milwaukee will both play 23 back-to-backs next season, which will be the most in the league.
-The Clippers will play 22 back-to-backs; the Lakers will play only 15 back-to-backs, which is the fewest in the league. Winning two championships in a row has its perks.
-Even though the Thunder have young legs, they won’t be tested by too many back-to-backs; they will only play 17 next season.
-The Heat and Celtics will both play 19 back-to-backs next season; the Magic will play 20.

Wow the Lakers have a pretty soft schedule: the lowest number of back to back games, early cheese puff teams, and a home stretch run to finish the season out.
