Top 10 Lakers plays of the playoffs

Aug 2, 2010, 8:00 PM EDT

The Lakers play pretty basketball when they run the offense. Which they do less and less, but there are moments when Pau Gasol is playing where it still comes through.

Also, notice how many times Shannon Brown comes up in these. Then picture how much the Lakers would miss his athleticism. Then picture how many plays he would make as a Knick.

Lakers need to get Shannon in the fold, now!

Shannon Brown is excellent in the fast break. Can’t say the same for Sasha.

Then picture how many times Shannon brown clanks a pull up jumper after dribbling out the shot clock and not passing to a teammate.
Shannon can run and gun but he can’t run the offense for beans

I love Shannon, too, but you’re right: he has some room for improvement in ball handling/playmaking. Yes he’s strong receiving the ball & with explosive/athletic moves, but needs maturing in passing & court vision. Like you, though, I’d HATE for the Knicks or Cav’s to get ahold of him. He’d get more playing time elsewhere, but maybe not the chance to improve as he would with the Lakers. Gad, this guy has potential!

Shannon is a sparkplug offensively when he puts his mind to it, and a lot of those highlights were of him putting his mind to the task. But he’s as aloof as anybody out there. He’s like an undersized Lamar Odom, only difference is Odom is a mismatch even when he isn’t doing anything lmao. If Shannon defended better he’d be a 6mil a year season type player, if he got a better shot off, better stroke he’d be an 8 mil a year player. Lakers are paying accordingly. I’d prefer we keep him but if we don’t, the Lakers can still rely on trusty crafty savvy guards who can stroke it better, pass it better, d better, and not put the Lakers in the situation where they have to go to overtime games, or tip ins, but his athleticism was appreciated, just not sure it’s an overriding factor in keeping him.
