Blazers sign Armon Johnson

Aug 2, 2010, 7:09 PM EDT

The Portland Trail Blazers are announcing that they have signed rookie guard Armon Johnson to a contract. Terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed.

The Blazers took Johnson with the 34th pick of the 2010 NBA Draft. Prior to entering the draft, Johnson played three seasons at the University of Nevada, leading them in assists all three seasons. Johnson averaged an impressive 11.6 points, 4.2 assists, and 2.2 steals during his time at the Las Vegas Summer League. Not an earth-shattering signing for the Blazers, but Johnson is a solid player who will give Portland even more backcourt depth.

Johnson was the top-performing rookie PG in the Summer League, and he did that while splitting touches with Patty Mills. He shot well, played strong defense, and made smart decisions with the ball.
Here’s a quick recap of his skills from before the draft.
