Kobe Bryant realizes he is not cut out to be a coach

Superstar players usually make bad coaches or managers. Players who can just do rarely have to study the game in detail like a coach. There are exceptions, like Pete Rose had a pretty good managerial record… well, there was that whole betting on baseball thing. We’ll go with Larry Bird as the exception.

Kobe Bryant knows basketball. He watches more film than half the coaches in the league already. He is practiced and smart. On paper he makes a good coach.

But he knows better, as he told the China Daily (via the Orange County Register).

“No. Absolutely not. No, no, no,” he told the China Daily while in Beijing this week. “Being a coach is too frustrating for me. I like coaching kids and holding training clinics for the kids. But to be a coach from the regular season to the playoffs … I have no interest at all.”

You thought Pat Riley’s three-hour practices were brutal, can you imagine what Kobe would do?

I know for sure! He’ll hold a portion of training camp in Colorado. He loves the hotels there ;)

I know 1 thing he’ll do if he were coach. He’d defintely hold a portion of training camp in Colorado;)

Speaking of Kobe, is he in the “best player ever” argument? Here’s a run-down of which current players are.

I bet you look as ignorant as you sound. Jealous Psycho.

I love it how people are STILL bringing up the whole Colorado thing. OMG, get a life already! Really? We should not hold athletes upon some type of pedestal like they are incapable of making mistakes.
Yes, he cheated on his wife, as does 90% of professional athletes.
We should discuss and judge athletes by what they do while ON THE JOB…not what they do in their personal life.
All the Kobe haters out there can only resort to one argument, which is the Colorado incident, because they know in their heart that he’s a freaking phenomenal basketball player – love him or hate him. They simply can’t stand it that he is so great. Period.
Back to the point of the article, I couldn’t see Kobe as a coach, either. He would be wayyyy to tough on these kids and expect too much out of them.

You are an idiot and a moron! Double Whammy! Educate yourself about the game and then maybe you can come up with some new material. That horse has been beaten to death, tanned and turned into fashion leather accessories.

Can you be a rapist and become an NBA coach? Just wondering.

I have a feeling Kobe wants to go the MJ route and become an owner. And since he’s also a huge soccer fan, I could easily see Kobe buying a European club team.

you need to stop haten and get some players in col that are not hoodlums! grow up try some championships you feel better! i guarantee it!!!

Where have you been? Still bitter after all these Kobe stellar years? Let me guess – – – “that” woman is your sister, right?

  13. luffy - Jul 27, 2010 at 11:11 PM

To mick-7-1961 and no means no…
Pity you guys, we know you’re rape victims that sued and didn’t win. Sorry if you got you’re ass Fuc*ed like hell, we understand, now you’re putting the hate on Kobe. Please move on and erase the bitter experience from your minds…
I think Kobe should just put up a business after retirement and live a quiet life w/his family. Owning a team would be a good one, he could try to buy some shares of the LA Franchise…

    get over it my friend

  15. Salty - Jul 28, 2010 at 1:03 AM

I thought Kobe already owned an Italian basketball team.

Banner18 is the only one intelligent enough to fiqure out exactly what Kobe will do. He may go down as the greatest that ever played the game of basketball, by the time he is done, but Kobe’s first love is soccer. As a huge Barcelona fan, I see him buying stakes in a top European side right after he finishes the NBA career.

Dude are you serious? He didn’t rape that woman, she just wanted her fifteen mins of fame and money. You and No Means No need to get a life and get over it. Try getting a contender there and maybe some intellect. Kobe is a great player and maybe the second best ever next to MJ

  18. slick - Jul 28, 2010 at 8:47 AM

grow up let go we know you have made a mistakes too so let it go

  19. Chmo - Jul 28, 2010 at 1:44 PM

Dude, can’t you give it a rest already. You and all the other idios who come in and say the same crap about soemthing that happened 5 years ago. Just because whoever you like is not an NBA champion, you have to go on about the Colorado incident. Nobody cares anymore so grow up. Kobe is by far the best player in the game and is only 2nd to MJ.

Jerry West coached only two seasons, leading the Lakers to the best record in the NBA in ’76-’77, only to lose to Portland in the West Conf finals. Kermit Washington went down with a season-ending injury (one season before the Rudy T incident), and the Trailblazers easily overpowered Don Ford. The Lakers were not even picked to make the playoffs that year, even with Kareem in his prime. Coach of the Year went to Bill Fitch, who led Houston to the division title they were supposed to win.
I think Jerry West was a better coach than Larry Bird, with all due respect to Larry.

Well for those people who still feel that Kobe rape that women, then answer this question for me. If I am rape he is not going to get off with just paying me some money. He would have to have surger again if it was rape because she could have kick him all over the place. Now the young women went to his room to get some pointers on basketball and that is what she got a pointer and two balls and enjoy it. Right now she is somewhere with her money saying who was that man?
