Heat sign Shavlik Randolph

Jul 27, 2010, 3:10 PM EDT

The Miami Heat continued to fill out their roster on Tuesday when they signed 26-year old forward Shavlik Randolph to a one-year deal for the veteran’s minimum. The deal is not fully guaranteed. The Heat now have 14 players under contract, meaning they have one roster spot left.

Randolph was once one of the top recruits in the country, but went undrafted after a very disappointing three-year career at Duke. The 76ers signed him as an undrafted free agent, and he was actually a part of their rotation during his rookie season; over half of Randolph’s career games, minutes, points, and assists came in his rookie year.
Since then, Randolph has played sparingly, having only appeared in 38 games over the last four seasons. He likely won’t see the court much in Miami, but he won’t cause any problems either, and that’s all Miami really wants at this point.
