Chris Paul has a Magic preference

Jul 23, 2010, 9:01 PM EDT

After Chris Paul’s list of places he’d like to be traded to came out, the natural response was to seek out a preference of Paul, the Hornets, and King of Mardis Gras. Just as it was with LeBron, only without any sort of leverage on the part of the player, every city of fans believe they are the best fit for the young point guard. New Orleans probably feels strongest in that regard.

But Chris Broussard has a report tonight on what Paul’s preference is. You remember Chris, don’t you? He was the one who mentioned on a little 4-letter network that LeBron James would be joining the Miami Heat. So it’s been a pretty good month for Broussey’s track record. Can I call him Broussey? No? Okay, then. Either way, Broussard hasn’t done too bad this month.

And he reports that Orlando has supplanted the Knicks as Chris Paul’s preferred destination.

Before we get too far and I have to start ducking from the good people of New Orleans throwing  pint glasses of Abita Amber at me (don’t waste it!), let’s set something straight. Chris Paul can prefer New York. LA. Orlando. Manchester United. The New York Football Giants. The Monstars. It won’t matter if Dell Demps thinks that trading Chris Paul is madness. And it is.

You have to look at the offers. You have to consider it. You have to entertain the idea. But at the end of the day, you realize that you have David West, Emeka Okafor, two talented rookies, and that doesn’t add up to trading the best point guard in the league. If Demps realizes that, there’s no alternative. There’s no rationalization. They will not trade Chris Paul.

So we wait and hear more word out of Chris Paul’s camp, and wait to see if the Hornets blink.

The Hornets wouldn’t make that trade because they already a replacement at PG for Paul in Darren Collison. If they do make a trade (and they won’t), it would be for max value at positions other than PG, particularly SF and C.

WOW! I’d like to see that Moron say that to directly to a man of color. His lips would probably disappear into his brainless skull and rightfully so.

No Jose, I am a basketball lover, but I must admit that I do want to see the human race better itself and hope that you never reproduce. What is truly spectacular is that this article is about professional basketball which is why we are all reading it. What is the percentage of african american players in the NBA? Jose and Scott must have secret boners for these players. Go back to the shower and finish your business.

Hey i know that the city of New Orleans needs Chris Paul but you have to take into consideration that this guy will be traded the moment there is a dip in his walk and no spring in his legs, so why should he have the opportunity to go before they get rid of him, and believe me they will get rid of him fast, he gave them a couple of good years but they are not surrounding him with the best players, but in Orlando he will flourish along side Dwight Howard it will be amazing to see that, and besides Orlando’s time is do, especially after the trade of Shaq. it took them years to get back to good NBA status.

Most of you idiots that responded to that clown did just what he wanted. Then the religious nuts showed up and took the thread even further off track. You guy were just fish waiting to be caught.
    I’m out.

HELLO! Of course he wants to go the Knicks — the entire thrust of his management team’s strategy is to land him in NY. This “Orlando” story is just a misdirection, to ward off talk of tampering and what not. Question: Who is CP3’s agency? Who is Amare’s agency? etc etc etc. If you look at the AGENTS then the lines become very clearly focused. If you are just looking at the players then you end up reading (or writing!) superficial articles like this one.

Chris Paul going to the Nuggets isn’t the most far-fetched idea.

This gives Paul a star teammate in Carmelo Anthony, plus a good supporting cast, and a chance to contend in the West right away.
New Orleans gets Billups, who can still play well for 30 minutes and keep the PG spot warm until Collison is ready to take over full-time. Plus NO gets a #1 from Denver in 2013 or 2014.
New Jersey gets David West from New Orleans for a #1 in 2012 (protected top 10) and doesn’t have to insert a rookie in the starting lineup. Derrick Favors gets to apprentice behind West and Lopez for 20 min a night and learn for 1-2 years, then takes over when West’s contract is up.

Stop calling the “racist” racists. Racist is an over rated word and just starts pointless arguments, who cares if somebody says you’re black or white, it’s a free country, people could say whatever they want…
