I would disagree with your assessment that Bass needs to be in the paint to be effective. His outside jumper is about as consistent as you can get. Rashard Lewis, until game 3 or 4 against Boston, was a huge disappointment and his defense is pretty suspect. Bass on the other hand, has the size to match up with 4's and some 5's, and can even play a little on the perimeter as long as he's not guarding the 1 or 2. He would be very versatile on pick and rolls, and he's a glue guy who works hard. So, instead of Lewis hanging on the outside where his defender isn't getting blocked out on offensive rebounds, maybe he needs a guy like Bass in there to block out his man (do the little things) so that Howard is one on one. You can have a 4 stretch the floor without making him go all the way to the three-line. They have enough three-point shooters, maybe they need more interior presence instead of just Howard in there. I think most would agree, as good as Howard is, most of his points are not coming from low post moves, but rather getting dunks by getting put-backs and gaining position directly under the basket. Bass might not be a flashy name, but he might be better for the team if he gets more time.

Kurt,
There are plenty of us out here who read and enjoy you, but don't make a lot of comments. When you used to maintain FB&G all your stories were about one team and all the bloggers were interested in that team. Now you cover most everybody and a limited number of bloggers are interested in any one story. Also, you get all the single comment idiots doing their shout outs.
Keep up the good work.
