Of course, it does take a bit of the wind out of the sails of Pierce's point when in fact the Celts DID sign Nate Robinson...
Backup point guard had long been an achilles heel and Pierce was correctly pointing out that retaining Robinson should be a major priority.
As we all know backup Center is a big body who can bang around, bang up other players, pick up his fouls, grab a few rebounds and sit down. That's not quite as rare as a quality backup point guard.
I'm sure Kurt Helin is wishing he'd posted this BEFORE the Celts re-signed Robinson, but hey - no need to let that minor fact alter what would otherwise have been a good story.

The 3 musketeers of the Celtics team are old and need replacement parts. The team needs young blood with fire in their eyes like Perkins. And Pierce is right on their desperate need for another big center, their Achilles heel in the last finals. There is truth to the adage that even though the spirit may be willing but the flesh is weak. It is time to accept that knees and elbows grow brittle and feeble because of age. And they are evidently clear with the 3 Celtics stars.

In the regular season, thanks to injuries and in certain cases, a lack of focus *cough* Rasheed *cough* the Celtics were a mediocre team.
By getting healthy heading and more firmly buying in to team defense as of the playoffs they were able to demonstrate that being a low seed isn't a insurmountable barrier. They played with heart and determination but their health was ultimately the key, just as it is with nearly every other team.
There's lots of organizations with better teams on paper - the next championship however will be won with heart, health and determination.
Who knows if the Three Egomaniacs in South Beach will even be healthy come the playoffs?
