NY Knicks have a better supporting cast no doubt. They have shooters as opposed to Miami. CP3 and Melo to NYK would be pretty balanced and I believe more balanced role wise compared to Miami. 2011 can't get here soon enough.

Yeah this would put the Knicks about equal 1-3 compared to Miami. The real key is the supporting cast. This is why teams like Boston, Orlando and LA will still be superior this next year. Kobe and Pau have Artest, Bynum, Odom, Blake, Fisher, and more. Boston has the big 3, Rondo, Perkins, Davis, Robinson, etc. Orlando with Nelson, Howard, Lewis, Carter, Gortat, Pietrus, Barnes, and Redick (if the last 2 return). Besides Haslem, the Heat have nothing outside the stars. Maybe I'm the only one, but the superteam concept seems a little overrated at this point when it seems you'd be better off with two stars and a good 4-5 players suporrting them.

You're still assuming max contracts will be less in the new CBA.
I agree the cap number is likely to be less, guaranteed contracts will be shorter, and there might be some kind of hard cap at like 125% of the cap number.
But I think the owners are not liking these conglomerations of talent either. Letting one player sign for 50% of a team's cap can work for everyone. Carmelo Anthony would be shortsighted to sign that deal with no out.
