Ash needs to add an “h” to his/her name which makes it hash. This is more indicative of what they where smoking prior to making such an outlandish comment like “This franchise has never been committed to win a championship (notice I spelled it correctly)they just want to show up and say we made the playoffs” You won’t find a franchise more committed to winning in all of sports, and yet have the limited resources the Jazz have.

The Wolves are receiving picks and a trade exception… the trade exception can and will be used to facilitate trades with other teams during the next 12 months. So in reality the Wolves will receive future draft picks, salary cap flexibility and the ability to buy or trade for other teams players that they can no longer afford due to their own cap mismanagement. Kurt… pull your head out and know the facts. You have a job to do and you have been doing a very poor job of it. There is a very real chance in the next 12 months that all-star players will be looking to be sent elsewhere and the exception puts the Wolves in postion to acquire them while few other teams are.

Utah wasn’t committed to winning a championship during the Stockton-Malone era? They did go deep into the playoffs several years, including two trips to the finals. Like other great players who had to go up against MJ, had he not been around, Utah might have won a couple championships. I think they do the best they can to win with the limited payroll they can take on without breaking the bank.

How are some of the commentors defending kahn here?! We are getting NOTHING in return for a 25 year old 20/10 guy because Kahn tipped his hand too early and pushed too hard to trade Al. We easily should have gotten a middle of the pack starting SG and a draft pick for him. Instead we get NOTHING.

This franchise has never been committed to win a cahmpionship they just want to show up and say we made the playoffs. Just accomplishing that is a championship to them. Jerry Sloan is a great coach because they tell him this is all we will get you, now coach. This is a franchise that fits well in the state they are in. Nowhere else in the United States fans would be so satisfied.

Let’s see….
Al is too slow to run the offense Rambis wants
Al is out of place at center
Al and Love can not both play PF
Love is much quicker and has a sweet outlet pass to get the break going
Darko and Pavlovic can hold down the middle and run
Sure, Utah gets a good player.
But Minnesota gets a couple of draft picks for a player that is currently expendable.
BTW if there are picks involved I would question the Utah GM more than Kahn. Because then this becomes Carlos Boozer and two draft picks for Al Jefferson overall.

It’s more like swapping Jefferson for Love because Al couldn’t pay center & him and love couldn’t play together. Jefferson is a good player and should work well for Utah. Best of luck to him.

they signed darko to a 4 yr contract, trading jefferson for nothing but draft picks. that’s where he got darko for jefferson, even though darko played there last year.

This is why Utah is one of the class organizations in the league. A small market team always up against the odds to build winning franchises, but always manages to get good players. Jefferson may not be the pick-and-roll player that Boozer is, but this swap saves Utah money and adds some much needed length to their frontline. Add a returning Okur, Kirilenko, Millsap, and a developing Fesenko and they’ve got a decent frontline. Deron Williams still needs help in the backcourt, especially after losing Korver and Wesley Mathews’ offer sheet likely not going to be matched.
