Dear Lebron Supporter,
If basketball is a team sport why does ESPN waste our time with coverage over one man? Fact of the matter is, star power generates revenue and the NBA is a business. Star players dont foul out because the refs are told not to call fouls on them because if that player is out of the game people will stop watching. The NBA is a joke with too many corrupt players and officials. The playoffs are probably rigged anyway, just think how many more people would watch the NBA finals if either the celtics or the lakers werent in it? So in order to reach maximum profit they try to influence the games to the results they want.

Bill has it right when he said LeBron isn’t giving anything to charity, it’s all the sponsors. It’s great that he wants to help out, but he’s a multi-millionaire. When he signs his new deal he will be even richer. If he wants to help out the Boys and Girls club, he has the funds to do it with out the ego circus.
But it’s not all his fault, as somebody else mentioned before, ESPN has been talking about him non stop even before the playoffs ended. Every day they have a new segment on LeBron’s decision, despite the fact that there has been ZERO new information for the entire offseason. You guys don’t know anything at ESPN; just wait until he tells and we’ll all be better off for not speculating.
finally, everybody who says “If you had a bunch of good job offers, wouldn’t you take your time and choose the best one?” are missing the point. Nobody is judging him for being a free agent or exploring his options. I believe most people are irritated by the nerve of a guy who needs a TV special to ANNOUNCE his decision, as opposed to D Wade and Chris Bosh who quietly decided to play in Miami and let the press know in a normal way. This spectacle will be even more sad if James is actually going to join them in Miami, but needs to make a completely separate and much more important announcement just to prove he’s the “king.”
tl;dr, I know. but if you read it, you’re smarter now.

I agree with Manny. It’s Cleveland. It’s in his blood. I also disagree with the paundits challenging his use of ESPN to raise money for kids. It’s about time these mega millionaire athletes get a shard from the gold that the media will get when they simnply publish HIS decision. Full of himself?— abit. Reversing the exploitation tables is probably the better description.

Actually, LeBron has quite an impact on the Cleveland economy so in a sense it is focused on it: http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2010/06/how_much_is_lebron_james_worth.html There's a lot more to it than you non-Clevelanders understand. Many of you are so set in your opinions there is no sense in explaining it. Live in Cleveland for 20 years and you'll get why it matters. Besides, even if it is to hype himself up more, at least there's a charitable cause behind it. That seems worth it in my opinion with charities feeling the bite from the recession.

Is it just me, or is everything in sports becoming way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way too hyped. Really??? A one hour show for King James to announce his decision on where he’s going. You’d have to be a complete loser to devote an hour of your life to find out where a basketball player has decided to play next year. Another example was the NFL draft this year. The NFL had non-stop coverage for 4 days. Does anybody really want to watch the draft for 4 days straight? Get an F’ing life man.

this will be the lowest rated hour of television in ESPN history, especially now that Amar’e, Bosh and Wade have disclosed what they’re doing. the more free agents that announce, the more irrelevant LeBron becomes. he can’t draw flies to come to cleveland, let alone the talent he needs to make them a winner. and his conscious won’t allow him to leave his hometown region devastated. enjoy the money LeBron. but you’ll have to buy your own jewelry.

Who is this guy, really? What has he done that nobody else in the NBA hasn’t? Big freakin deal. I hope he gets slapped in the face by Michael Jordan on live TV. Or better yet, have Shaq body slam him. I would even order this on Pay per View if Charles Barkley came out to slug him in the gut. It could be like high school hazing, but televised. I am sooooo tired of this Labron stuff! The NBA is a joke – fixed games, crooked refs, and classless, overpaid, overly egotistical players who provide nothing to society. Why anyone cares a hoot about the NBA is beyond understanding! I stopped watching years ago. ESPN has become so difficult to watch and this Labron love-fest has simply driven me away completely.

The whole LeBron Extravaganza was the creepiest exercise in narcissism that I’ve ever “witnessed”. Doesn’t it strike any of you as odd that he already has a 60 minute documentary available? They just didn’t splice some home movies, this masturbatory exercise has been planned for months, and the entire “Where do I sign?” melodrama was decided months if not years ago. He knew where he wanted to go; this was all about SELF LOVE and MARKETING the LeBron brand.
Forget the image Nike, the NBA and ESPN tries to cram down our throats. He is the creepiest non-criminal athlete to have graced our television screen this decade. What on God’s Green Earth has he ever accomplished? Zero championships, despite having a team that had the BEST regular season record in the NBA. Forget the lies about having mediocre teammates; you do NOT earn the best regular season record with mediocre teammates; in fact the best regular season teams usually win the NBA Championship. He always disappears in crunch time; he has not improved his game the past THREE seasons. He relies on natural gifts (speed of a sprinter, build of an NFL linebacker) rather than hard work. He is pathetic, lazy, and narcissistic and a total fabricated LIE on a national level.
