One hour that comes down to one word.
LeBron James will make an announcement in an hour-long special Thursday night on ESPN, starting at 9 p.m. Eastern. Chris Broussard, the ESPN reporter who has the best contacts in the LeBron James camp of just about anyone, made the announcement on ESPN News.
LeBron and his people will sell sponsorships of the show, with the money going to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, according to ESPN.
There is no word yet on where LeBron will be during the announcement.
A national television announcement with money going to a national charity — hard to read too much into that about where LeBron might play next year. However, reports now say that it is likely down to Cleveland or Miami, where he would team up with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. Of course, the way this free agency has gone, that could all change in the next 20 minutes. Twice.
What you can read into this — it takes a pretty big ego to ask ESPN for an hour like that. There is potential for backlash, something LeBron saw when he did the Larry King interview during the NBA finals. He either ends up on national television to break Cleveland’s heart, or he has an hour-long special on himself to say he is going nowhere. Both options have public relations problems to deal with.

This is a man child….came right out of high school… and all you fools are slobbering over this massive ego and his handlers..he has super talent to shoot – dribble – dunk…. beyond that another jock given massive amounts of money and thinks he is now above it all… not me…just a lost soul who were it not for bouncing the ball with great skill… would be just another overgrown physical freak basterdizing the game of basketball……if he comes to Miami we sure won’t travel from Plam Beach to see him….

There is nothing wrong with someone looking into all of there options. If you had multiple good job offers, I’m sure you will take your time to find out. Plus the money is going to a good cause. let see you put up money like that to help children. People talk about his ego and will not commend him his donation. Anyone who hates should put up the money this event will raise and donate to a charity.

Hey, Kobe can’t do squat without me. If you wanna rate players by rings Robert Horry and I all automatic Hall of Famers.

DFisher is right, Kobe would have to win a ring a year for the next two years to catch me. He is just a second rate Ron Harper.

Well I think the man should remain true to his routs. After-All…. Cleveland is where he started and has been all these years, so why leave now? All because he wants a championship? Well if he & his team would try alittle harder and “NOT” give up like he did, then he probably could have won.But the dam man just simply gave up and for what?…..?
I would have more respect for him if he stayed with Cleveland, but if there’s a reason as to why he’s leaving other then thinking of himself and a championship.. I’de love to hear it. But then.. A championship is done by a “TEAM” not 1 single Person.. Someone Please let Kobe know that as well! Can’t stand him either!
-
- BossDogg37 - Jul 7, 2010 at 1:30 AM
-
Amen. I totally agree with you! Kobe the same dam way.. Pretty much.. These type of players only think of them selves and not the team. They know they are bigg, but fail to realize that it does take a “TEAM” and not just 1 single person to make a championship! But what the hell do we know…..?

What an a**hole…hope he stays in Cleveland. A TV show. Come on. D Wade has class, wether he stays or goes in Miami. I am near Chicago, and I don’t want to lose Noah or Rose. I hope Bosh goes somewhere other than Chicago, too.

It’s not about that. It’s about him and his Team Lebron is handling this free agency. The way they go about business. It’s Shameful. What gives him the right to own a whole hour to make an announcement. His hero is Michael Jordan? When the world was waiting to see if MJ would come out of retirement, he simply sent a fax to all news organization stating “I’m Back “. You tell me if Lebron is handling this right?
