Ok, Sheed did not have a great reg. season. But he played great in the playoffs. You say his ppg average went down, well I guess that’s expected when his minutes per game went down as well. Gee, who woulda thought? Quit hating Rasheed, he’s got more heart than any player.

Umm, no. Sheed coming back would be a very good thing. Spell minutes for Jermain O’Neal, maybe they will bring Kwame Brown in as he is a legit post defender (that’s all the C’s ask for from the 5 spot) and can rebound.
The C’s lost it on the 2nd, 3rd & 4th chances by not being able to rebound. The Laker length CLEARLY affected them. If those multiple offensive opportunities are prevented by somply securing boards, the C’s hold the lead and do not wilt.
They were a PJ Brown (big body post defender & rebounder who does not need to score) away from a 2nd title in two years. Sheed will help, and being paired with Jeremaine O’Neal (just signed), and if they bring Kwame Brown (league minimum to simply defend)…that would be a 3 man rotation until January and then with Perkins getting back into the fold (less than a year removed he won’t be 100%, but 70-80% of Perk defending the post is still very good) there you have 4 bodies to rotate at the 5, Sheed moreso at the 4.
It’s not an issue at all. The only stickler would be his high salary for the next two years. But a totle would ease all of that pain.
If Laker fans were truely secure, no need to come to Boston Celtic articles and comment. They knew how close the C’s were…. so does Doc and Danny, as well as Bosh, LeBron, & Wade.

Yo, I agree with everything everyone has said previously. This dude has absolutely NO idea what he is talking about…AND it is obvious he wasn’t paying attention to the Celtics during the postseason. Rasheed fits in great with the Celtics, and I pray he comes back for another shot at the title. You’re talking about one of the most talented power forwards of his generation, and a proven NBA champion. He was one of the few I trusted with the ball in his hands during the playoff.
Dude, you need a reality check!!! Do us a favor…write articles for badminton or ping pong….not for basketball and definitely not for the CELTICS.

This dude who wrote this article is a complete idiot and knows NOTHING about basketball!!!! Rasheed Wallace always sacraficed his game to make his teams better….He has the inside game, outside game and, and defense! He’s always been my favorite player and has had a great career with not much effort….Of course I would have loved for him to put more effort but throughout his career, he’s never wanted to be the star player! He has never hurt any team, and has been successful with every team he played for….15 year career….14 of them as a starter, 15 points 7 rebounds a game, 1 championship….been to 3 finals, in the playoffs EVERY year! Bottom line….Kurt Helin, ur stupid and should never right about basketball again! U can’t be that dumb!!!!

I take the middle ground on the Rasheed retiring issue. I would say he had a lukewarm season – underacheiving regular season followed by some strong bench play in the postseason. But, one issue is that Rasheed was clearly out of shape for most of the season and even into the playoffs. Out of shape = injuries.
The problem is, even if Sheed comes back healthy and in shape, he’s a year older as are the rest of the Celtics. They need to get younger. They need inspired bench play who bring energy to the game. They need hustle players to compliment the scorers.

Rasheed is a good bench player at this point of his career but at $6M he is overpaid. Sadly they will bring Ray Allen at $20M a year as well. He will be overpaid too. These are not moves that a team looking to get younger should be making. They are good players, but they will simply be not good enough to win next year with Orlando becoming more seasoned and Chicago making big free agent moves.

The writer of this article plainly knows nothing about basketball. Sheed almost saved us in game 7 with perkins out. He ran out of gas at the end but it was a vailent effort. I thought he played big in the playoffs and that was the entire reason he was on the team.
I assume the writer of this garbage probably thinks the Knicks are well run team and admires they way they have been put together. Its obvious he has no clue about what an important piece of the puzzle Wallace was in this playoff run.
Also hats off to the Lakers. I think with Perk we probably would have won, but we didnt, and congats to LA. Hopefully we do this again next year. It was one of the best series I have ever watched.

“You and your team are losers.” Really, dude. Way to win gracefully. I’ll be the first to admit that the Laker’s deserved to win that series and Gasol was the difference, IMO. Rondo didn’t have a great series and he’s just gonna get better. I don’t know if Bynum will ever be dependable for a season and the Laker’s front office knows that. Boston will be fine and while I won’t trash talk you like did the C’s fans, I will ask you this rhetorical question: Are you also a fan of the Yankees, Colt’s, and Red Wings? Thought so!

Say what you will…..Rasheed is one guy that can tear you apart on the court. He is emotional but I would rather have emotion than apathy. I have been a Laker fan since 1960 and this last playoff series was tremendous. Too bad one team had to lose.
