getting back at the amar’e is that good issue. without nash, he’s no less than a regular PF that can shoot,but not shoot well anymore. no more pocket passes, perfect pick and roll and even spacing the floor from the the other 4 players that shoos 40% and more from beyond the arc. clearly, amar’e was on his prime coz the PHX offense/players complimented on his capabilities.
btw, the PHX mgt. sux bigtime.

If this is true the nix blew it again, which is good. I like consistency.
IMO Wade’s being a spy for Riley doesn’t compute. If he decided for the Bulls it would break the dam. Wade is a closer – the guy who says “give me the ball and get out of the way” when the game is on the line. Forget the ‘Jordan’s legacy, Jordan’s footsteps’ routine – look at Boston and L.A. If Wade goes to the Bulls he would definitely bring someone else with him, and it doesn’t have to be James – James has too much baggage, has NEVER won and is not worth the money. Lee would be good.
Remember – Of ALL these names Wade is the ONLY one with a ring, and it don’t mean a thing if you ain’t got that ring. Remember too how he did it 4 years ago – he just flat out took over. You can’t teach that.
The Bulls should sign Wade and wait for the phone to ring.

Keep Lee an his double double, Save the money an keep dumping, the garbage we still have on the team. Were is it written that we have to put another Brand name on the bench. Amare, like David Lee is a power forward. I don’t know how well they’ll fit together. I agree that Amare is not worth a max contract because he doesn’t have a Nash to run with and get him the ball, and because he’s not the player he was before the injury.
As a Bulls fan, I’m completely happy with Amare signing with the Knicks because it means they’re still not a threat to us if he’s their best player. And with that contract, they’re saying he is.

@Ben T, you’re right about Amare just not showing up. I’m surprised there weren’t more comments in the media about him not showing up to play for 2 of the Lakers games. Both feet flat on the ground the entire games with a blank look on his face. And he thinks he’s a max player, that’s what gets me.
Yep, once he’s separated from Nash he won’t be half the player he was. Nash doesn’t get enough credit for making other players on his team look better than they are.

He’s definitely not a terrible player and it’s not that he can’t play defense, he just usually doesn’t want to. The thing is, how can you justify paying someone max money when they might just not show up for your biggest games? I mean, those 20 rebound games against the Kings are nice and all, but that doesn’t really help you when you’re playing the Lakers.
If you don’t realize that he’s likely to have entire games where he’s just not really with it emotionally then you didn’t watch the Western Conference Finals. I mean serious, try boxing out your man once a quarter please?
As a Suns fan, I’m both happy and sad. Sad because this next year will be tougher, but happy because three years from now we’ll be much better off not having $20M a season sunk into the guy.

Leave it to the hapless Knicks. Always signing injured players who can’t play defense anyway. Reminds me of the trade they made for Antonio McDyss and Curry and the Hornets big guy years ago.
The guy has questionable knees and can’t rebound a lick. They’d better keep Lee.

Hahahahahaha ….. I live in Phoenix, love the Suns, and I’ve seen nearly every game Amar’e's played since we drafted him. He’s been working on his defense and rebounding every summer since we drafted him. D’antoni couldn’t fix it, Terry Porter couldn’t fix it, Alvin Gentry couldn’t fix it. Please remember, 3 years from now, when Amar’e needs another microfracture knee surgery, and he still isn’t rebounding, or hustling, or playing defense, and you owe him some $30 million +, you were warned!

I’ve lived in Phx for 30 years and have been a huge Suns fan since the beginning. Let me tell you this: Amare is NOT a max player, not even close. Amare did not make Nash better, that’s halarious. Nash earned MVP the year Amare spent on the bench because of his knee. Amare was in the dumps 1st half this season and when he was benched in the 4th Q of the Dallas game, then he turned it on, realizing he had half a season left in his contract year to make himself look good. But when the playoffs came, he was back to the old Amare. Score lots of points, and let the other team score even more against you. He has NO hussle and NO heart. On the defensive end he stands and watches players blow by him, hoping the ball is passed back to him after they score. He puts NO effort into the defensive end. Here in Phx he has been criticized about this for 5 seasons now, and he’s done nothing about it. Instead he developed a 15 ft jump shot. Go figure, scoring points is what makes franchises pay money, so that’s what he works on. And he’s a cry baby. When D’Antoni was here, it was his fault. When Porter was here, it was Porter’s fault. Now Gentry he won’t critisize cause they’re friends. Instead this year complained saying he’s carrying the team and isn’t getting help. GOOD RIDENS AMARE. And I apologize to NY fans cause you are going to have another 5 bad seasons in front of you. The new Brookly team will be playoff bound before the Knicks are…

I really hope they signed Amare to be center becuase eI want David Lee back. First thing is first, Amare never played for a coached that emphasis defense!! Mike D’Anotni I will say it again is the most overrated coach in basketball. Hasn’t he heard that defense wins CHAMPIONSHIPS!!! As a Knicks fan they have to get rid of him and hire Mark Jackson or someone who’s priority s defense. New Yorkers are not accustomed to run and gun 7 seconds system. By the Way I agree Dwyane Wade is way better than LeBron James. Compare Wade’s 06 team to LeBon’s 09 team I would of said LeBron’s 09 has a better chance to win but once again LeBron came up short….

hey ryan, you know amare has avg ovr 8 rebs a game, sometimes over 9 for his whole career, last he avg. nearly 24 pts a game, he blocks shot and get steal, hes also a very good FT shooter, and shoots over 50% from the feild. With his talent and athletic ability he’ll be godo anywhere, you ever think that he made nash better as well, you cant be an MVP pg without good players around you, the fact of the matter is, this move makes the knick more attractive to potential free agents most notably lebron,
lebron, amare,gallo, chandler, toney dug, maybe we can bring back lee, thats an ubelievable team

I must say, as a Laker fan – I LOVE THIS! Break up all the free-agents, send them to all parts of the NBA and remove the ‘super-team’ illusion that people were buying into. This more assures the Lakers three-peat chances, and frankly gives these players the excuse that ‘they didn’t have enough around them’ that they are so comfortable using.
LeBron gave up, Stoudamire was baby-fed passes from Nash for years, Bosh had some pretty good pieces around him, Joe Johnson too. D-Wade probably had the least help, and he is probably the BEST free-agent out there – yes, better than the overhyped LeBron.
If Amare couldn’t win in Phoenix with Nash, Raja Bell, Joe Johnson, Shawn Marion, Boris Diaw, Leandro Barbosa running D’Antoni’s offense, why the heck would he think he’d even get a sniff of the playoffs – in the Eastern Conference no less – playing for the Knicks and their 4-players under contract?
Just go though, I’d have the hear the bickering excuses of an assembled ‘super-team’ when they are one-and-done in the playoffs next couple of years…

I’m glad that you have such faith in Amare. Unfortunately, he can’t play D to save his life, nor can he rebound well enough. This isn’t a new problem. He hasn’t improved in those areas in 8 years. EIGHT. People around him have known of his deficiencies for a while, and yet he hasn’t been able to improve. Why would that change now? Because Chuck Barkley mentioned something to him? Even if Barkley coached him one-on-one, what would he teach Amare? You couldn’t possibly have two more different PFs.
As a Knick fan, I’m laughing because I’ve already cried all my tears.

Most of this are far more than rumors and are reported by agents involved in the negotiations who have close ties to the reporters. All are not true of course.
The deals PHX has agreed to for role players Frye and Warrick tell you Amare is gone and he they wouldn’t have broke off negotiation if a deal was virtually eminent.
Suns owner Sarver is “bleeding money”. The writing is on the wall. His bank has taken a beating in losses and GM Kerr and ast. GM Griffin bailed out before the drat and free agent signinsg. They see what’s happening.

I have the honor of working in basketball player development (http://www.austinyouthbasketball.com) and wonder how all this free agent hoopla impacts our young basketball players. Celebrity chefs, owners flying jets to Akron, powerpoint presentations by Interpublic… it all kind of sucks the fun out of the game. David Stern has mastered the art of PR calendar campaign and now has freeagentpalooza taking center stage over the World Cup. Anyone have any thoughts? (I must admit- I get pretty excited seeing Lebron photshopped into a Knicks jersey.)

I can understand that people criticizing some parts of Amare’s game… but I will say this! He is better than Bosh by a landslide. I believe Amare is dedicated to working on his Defense and his rebounding! I’m pretty sure many people have spoken to him about this during the offseason, 1 of which I know for a fact has been Charles Barkley who averaged 12 rebounds a game for his career… So I expect an improvement from Amare in both those areas of his game
