Pretty good observation there. You might rank up there in the “genius” category. Name me a successful coach that didn’t have a great player or players on the roster? Impossible to be Champs without great players AND great coaching. Look at my beloved Lakers for the recipe to win Championships. T-E-A-M chemistry…including the coach, is what it takes. In other words you can’t make mediocre talent great or surround 1 or 2 great players with mediocre talent and expect to win it all (i.e. Magic, Cavs, etc…). Nobody can do that.

Really only PJ matters as a coach…Doc Rivers too as he has shown how to make a difference via adjustments in a 7 game series AND to know when and when not to apply pressure on his team….the rest of em are a dime a dozen.

You all need to stop being haters. Coaches still have to be able to coach the team and have to make sure that they repect each other and be able to play together as a team. Then you will see Championships.

in all seriousness, who cares who the coach is? the NBA is, and always has been, a player’s game (as opposed to college which is more of a coach’s game). and it’s easy to see why with all the one-on-one play that goes on. it’s not a team sport in the NBA.
I know the phil jackson arguments will pop up referring to his 11 championships, but how many did he win without Michael and Kobe? ZERO. when you have arguably the two greatest “bail out” players in league history, surround them with best-than-average talent, the results are pretty predictable.
good luck to Byron Scott, but his fate is sealed once the roster is set to a large degree.
