Blazers waive Ryan Gomes

Jun 29, 2010, 5:14 PM EDT

According to several sources, the Blazers have announced that they will waive recently acquired forward Ryan Gomes. This is obviously a cost-cutting move for the Blazers, and will put them $1.9 million under the luxury tax. The Blazers acquired Gomes, along with the draft rights to Luke Babbitt, in a draft-day trade that sent Martell Webster to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Gomes has approximately $14 million left on his contract, which expires after the 2012-13 season.

The Celtics traded him to the T-wolves in the KG deal 2 years back, so yeah I think the Celtics will try and get him, but what I think is even IF Paul Peirce stays, we’re going to try and get him so he can back up Peirce once again.
