Let Carter expire and get a legit young star player like CP3 or Melo next season. Gilbert Arenas is way too much of a burden to carry. Not even a consideration please!

Lived in Orlando and originally from DC. Trust me, Gil is DA MAN!
He has dogged every major player in the NBA. He is a much better player than Vince. Much more consistant, far more ferocious.
Anyone who gets Gil at this stage will be getting a bonifide ALLSTAR that will drop 25 to 40 on any gaurd in the league.

Randy Moss turned out to be a good aquisition for New England from Oakland….where New England originally paid little for him. IF (and this is a big if) Orlando could get Arenas for a fraction of his salary (in the trade Washington gives up some cash) then I think it would be interesting to take a chance.
If Orlando (Otis) was considering a straight trade for Vince Carter that would be reminiscent of a crazy Isiah Thomas/NY Knicks move.
BTW, the ship has sailed on Hedo. Not a good idea to bring him back.
Better to try to do some sign and trade deal with Bosh. He strikes as someone who would try to benefit his franchise on the way out.

I am a knicks fan but if you guyz wana win chamionship trust in vince and dont do this stupid trade. Arenas who only plays good against nets, timberwolves and clippers .

I’m sorry, but Arenas IS an upgrade over Vince Carter. He’s a fearless scorer who will attack the basket. He’s also much more adept creating shots and making plays than Vince is at this point in his career.
What are your other options, Orlando fans? They desperately need some perimeter quickness and breakdown ability and Vince Carter was not it. That experiment failed. Vince will be another year older next season as well. They need to shake things up and they won’t be able to do it through the free agent market. They’ve still got competitive pieces to make a run, but they need changes.

As a 15+ year fan of the Orlando Magic, …….Otis Smith, I beseech thee: DO NOT BRING A CANCEROUS PERSONALITY LIKE ARENAS INTO THE MAGIC FAMILY! I am as disappointed in Vince Carters’ playoff performance as anyone else is……but not THAT disappointed! However, I DO like the possibility of bringing Hedo Turkoglu back, in exchange for Marcin Gortat & Brandon Bass. This is what I’ve been hearing lately. The numbers work salary-wise…..you have my blessings to go for THAT one, Otis!

If Otis okay’s this deal..I will be VERY DISAPPOINTED!! This would be a major setback in our quest for a championship. I think he’s failing to realize (or he’s just being stubborn about admitting that the 4-1 offense isn’t gonna work when you’re talking about beating LA or Boston) that we need to get bigger and more talented at the PF position. Leave Arenas in Washington…trade for a PF (ie. Bosh..and if we can’t get him, Al Jefferson). DON’T DO THIS OTIS!!

magic you got a rookie big man all u got to do is trade brandon bass he didnt do anything for the magic and give them a couple of bucks and i guess thats a good deal because arenas is not that big of a deal and u dont really need a point guard get a better forward like boozer not thats a deal!

One word, NO! Don’t do it Otis! You have made some bonehead moves in the past but this might top them all! You can see the teams who have smart GM’s running the show; those would be the teams with cap room for the best free agent crop in the history of the NBA. See Miami Heat & Chicago Bulls……. Seriously, you would be better off to trade Vince for another player(s) or keep him for another year and not resign him. You have paid way too much for Rashard and Vince….. suck it up and don’t be stupid again.
