Please , in this day and age , it doesn’t matter if Phil Jackson returns to coach the Lakers or not . The championship legacy belongs to the Lakers and the city of Los Angeles . It does’nt belong to a player the status of Jerry West , Magic Johnson , or Kareem Adbul Jabbar . Coaching is important , but not as important as the team , just ask Pat Riley , who by the way , was the greatest Laker coach , by virtue of the fact that he started the winning tradition the Lakers enjoy .
Yes , Phil Jackson has been wonderful as the Laker coach and his contributions are duly noted , now let the man decide if he’s had enough . He’s earned the right to that decision .
If he decides to leave Byron Scott has proven he is a worthy coach and I’m sure he will continue the Laker tradition of excellence .
