Givony: Thunder looking to trade two first-rounders for #11 pick

Jun 24, 2010, 2:37 PM EDT

According to the twitter account of Draft Express’ Jonathan Givony, The Oklahoma City Thunder’s potential trade with the Indiana Pacers is “dead.” The Thunder are now reportedly in talks with the New Orleans Hornets, who hold the #11 pick in the draft. According to Givony, the trade currently being discussed would involve the Thunder sending the 18th and 21st picks in the draft to the Hornets in exchange for the #11 pick.

This trade would make some sense for both sides. New Orleans is in a tricky financial situation, and getting two rotation players on rookie contracts rather than just one would be a great way for them to keep their future payroll down. The Thunder, meanwhile, are right on the cusp of contention in the Western Conference, and would probably be best served by adding one player capable of making an instant impact. We’ll keep you updated on this as it develops.
