You got to be smoking Jared. I know the 6ers, and the 6ers know Philly. And they know picking Turner is the only way to pump some life back into the Wachovia. Ed Snider and Peter Luuko got enuff money to eat Brands contract, unlike alot of other franchises. Ed Stefanski wants to cut dead wieght, but not at thier own exspense. I know about 75% of the NBA would rather be cheap than good, but if it's one thing I know about the 6ers organization is that money is not an issue...They're still paying about 5 other coaches on top of the one they have now, and he didn't come cheap. Doug Collins won't say it, but one of the reasons why he took this job is that this team has no problem spending, however foolishly it may be. They can't unload Brand b/c they want too much and they're not trying to give up nothing of consequence outside of Brand. I think they need to make a move w/ him, even if it is just garbage that they get back, cuz after this year a possible 17 mil is coming off the books. Combine that with the 17 mil they can shed by unloading Brand..and add in the fact that the core (holiday, turner, iguadala) will still be under contract, they could really build a team..if they're smart(which remains to be seen). Bottome line, they can't unload Brand b/c thier greedy.

Once upon a time Brand was the MAN until his injury with the CHIPPERS, the dreaded Clipper. A career killing organization, he should of taken the Clippers offer and ran like other players. But he decided to back door them with no KY jelly and slip off and signed with the 76ers without a phone call, KARMA is a MOTHER.

I think the T-Wolves should trade for him and the #2 pick. Probably could build a trade package around Jefferson and the #16/23 picks. The truth is that Minny will never be able to lure any quality free agent to MN with their record and the fact that it is MN, so why not use that money to take on a ridiculous contract if it allows them to stack their lineup with young studs.
Who cares what Brand does, but think of a lineup with Flynn, Turner, Love, Favors/Cousins, and whoever they bring in to play as a 3 or a 5. Give it two-three years and you have a young stud lineup not unlike the Thunder have now. At that time, if you've convinced Rubio to come, you then have a young, talented lineup with serious potential and Elton Brand's future expiring contract to try to trade for some veteran leadership, because let's face it, even in 3 years the T-Wolves are still going to be unable to lure any free agents to the icy tundra for some winter ball and stacking trade assets for future is the only way this team is going to be able to bring in talent other than praying for something good to happen in the draft.
Who knows, in a few years maybe the NBA gets a bounce back with the economy and Elton Brand's contract doesn't look so ludicrous, but rather just another overpaid veteran. And as a former all-star, he'd be a good low-post mentor to some of the younger players.

Nice, i had to click on the article so i could comment the exact same thing. I'm sure Washington would love to trade Gill for Brand. There are other less deseriable contracts in the NBA right now. Curry in NY? Turkoglu in Toronto? Brand is unmovable if unmovable means his team would expect way too much in return. 50% of the NBA has an unmovable contract by that logic.
