Report: LeBron "100 percent" endorses Izzo as coach

Jun 14, 2010, 8:25 AM EDT

Thumbnail image for izzo.jpgIt has been the biggest lingering question about the Cavaliers pursuit of Michigan State coach Tom Izzo to take their head job: What would LeBron James think? Because right now all things Cavaliers revolve around what LeBron James wants and thinks. When they order new pens for the Cavaliers offices they ask, “What color pens does LeBron like best?”

On the coaching front, LeBron likes Izzo, according to Brian Windhorst at the Cleveland Plain Dealer. And Windhorst has more sources than the CIA. Or at least more reliable ones.

James would “100 percent endorse” Izzo as the coach, Windhorst’s source reports.

Previous reports had suggested James wanted a successful former NBA coach to be his next coach. Someone with experience at the highest level. Izzo, while very respected, has never coached an NBA game. But apparently LeBron likes him.

But that doesn’t mean that James or Izzo have made any kind of decision.

James has spent two years working to keep his options open; he’s not going to change that for Izzo or any other coach. It may influence his decision, but James wants to be wooed, and he is not giving that up.

Meanwhile, Izzo watch 2010 rolls on. And on. And on.

WLNS, a Lansing television station, reports that Izzo wants to talk to James, and that having not happened yet is one of the delays in the decision making process for Izzo.

Izzo does start his youth basketball camp in Lansing today. Somehow I don’t expect him to make announcement to a bunch of fifth graders first.

I want Tom Izzo to stay at MSU, but …
this is getting VERY “FAVRE-ish” !!!!

Well, who wouldn’t want to coach LeBron? The better question is, who would want to coach the Cavs without LeBron? I see why Izzo is taking his sweet old time making his decision. He doesn’t want to go from one of the premier college basketball schools to a NBA Lottery team.

Izzo should stay at MSU. He’s a college coach, not a pro coach. The NBA whiners will eat him up and spit him out!

Favreish? not even close, this is a huge decision for the college coach, this is not typically a successful move and YES he does not want to go until Lebron has made up his mind. That would be stupid to go to Cavs minus Lebron.

Of course LeBron endorses Izzo for the Cavs. After all, LeBron isn’t going to be there next year, so why would he want a GOOD coach for the Cavs. There is probably nothing better LeBron would like than to leave Cleveland and then watch Izzo drive the team straight into the ground.

Tom Izzo is known for taking his team to the big dance many times and winning once. He and James are almost a perfect match.

What can you buy with $6 million that you can’t buy with $3 million?
Sure, the NBA means no recruiting. It also means entitled superstars over whom you have little control that you have to “coach”. I doubt Izzo will be any happier.

Lebron needs to stop messing around and go to either the Knicks or the Nets.

This will really mess up my college bracket next year. MSU has been the school that always keeps me ahead of the other brackets at work. Jeeze Izzo, this effects MY LIFE! Hahaha.

Tom Izzo should move on up to the NBA bigs… he has quite the resume and has done well at MSU. A new challenge and a new direction? sounds good to me and oh by the way, twice the money. Take the sweet deal and move on. MSU fans, suck it already, for you to be down on a man for improving his lot is life says a lot about your own selfishness.

Does anyone even know that this is U.S. Open (golf, duh!) week? It’ll be nice to view a sports event that is not controversial!

Let Tom Izzo come to crooked crummy Cleveland and he and Dan Gilbert can open a casino in the old MAY company budg. They can both serve drinks, deal cards, and watch the L TRAIN on the big screen play ball at Madison Square Garden. Labron…..PLEEZE go already!!! Put your Yankee cap on and go>>>>…..I will take 3 Rondo’s any day instead of 1 Labron….GO>>>>
