The point about the trade kicker is dead on. Not really an issue for a trade, we'll just be taking back something probably as bad.
@PJ - Sorry, but no. We did not give Hedo $53 million to be a "Jason Kapono". We asked him to be a closer and a scorer but he preferred facilitate the offence. At 10 million a year, he should be able to tailor his skills to fit the Raptors offence. He's not a rookie fresh out of highschool with limited abilities. It was his lack of passion and effort that result in his poor performance.

A number of contracts around the league have "trade kickers". Hedo's isn't different so it's not a disincentive.
Further, it's not entirely accurate to associate Hedo's decline in production with his age. Hedo was not a fit in the Raptors' system. He was asked to be a spot up jump shooter (a Jason Kapono, if you will), when his skills are more of a point-forward. It wasn't a case of declining skill - it was a case of his skills not meshing with what the Raptors were doing.
That leaves the Raptors with 2 choices. Change their system or trade Hedo. Hedo has made it clear that he prefers the latter, due mostly to the way he believes management behaved towards him. Fans want him gone for the way they believe Hedo behaved towards the team. Neither side is 100% right or 100% wrong.
But you are mistaken if you think Hedo and his contract are dead weight... and Raptors management knows it. If no team is offering anything of value in trades for Hedo, then Raptors management will just go with option 1 - keep Hedo and change their system. Which will likely mean Bosh is gone, as is Jose and Antoine Wright.

I assume he could waive that (and the last year player option) if he really wanted to be traded, as he says he does. And since he won't get the trade kicker if he stays put, he could waive it without loosing money. The trade kicker really is a sort of no trade clause that is basically impossible to get in the NBA.
