The championship series belonged to anyone. Game 7 did not. No doubt both teams didn’t play their best. The fourth quarter calls were absurd. The Lakers had 37 FT attempts, while the Celtics had 17. The Lakers had more FT attempts than the Celtics had the whole game. Some were deserved, some weren’t. But at least call it for both teams. In a game as close as this, nothing matters until the 4th quarter. Everyone forgot Kobe’s horrible 3 quarters, and they forgot Kevin Garnett’s 3 first half fouls to limit his play time. Momentum shifts too much in basketball to blame anything before the 4th, especially in a close game like this.
I thought Lakers would win the series, but not like this.

Doc has a right to complain about the calls, but there isn’t much they are going to do about it. The Lakers ALWAYS get calls their way in LA. Kobe is an awesome basketball player, but an even better actor! As far as Gasol and Artest, most teams get technicals when you swear at the refs (and yes, you can read their lips in games 1,2,5, and 6) but these guys seem to get away with it. Game 6 is just another example of how the Lakers can’t win unless the refs make the calls for them. Artest hammers Perkins while Kobe slaps him retrieving a ball. Gasol takes 4-5 steps while trying to make the layup (remember from 1st grade basketball? That’s called traveling unless you are a Laker). Watching Kobe trying to run up Ray Allen’s jersey while he was dribbling was fun to watch to.. Refs – call a fair game, ignore what Jack is paying you…

Laker4life..yeh you are really unbiased right? What a moron you are.
I look at the officiating at both sides. Game 2 Garnett wasn’t allowed to play because of ticky tack fouls. Kobe wasn’t allowed to play because of ticky tack fouls. Then game 3 it was Pierce not allowed to play because of ticky tack fouls.
They officials need to quit interfering with the play.
You know the Celtics would have won game 3 if Pierce would have been allowed to play. He had just nailed a 3 in the 3rd quarter then another ticky tack foul puts him on the bench.

joe you frickin idiot. Look at Fisher on how he gets away with holding and bumping. He doesn’t have the speed anymore so he resorts to holding away from the ball on Ray Allen.
And then Pierce barely bumps Artest and he is on the bench most of the game with 4 fouls.

That is really funny, this article calls it just right, the Celtics have been the bully and just like the bullies in real life, they don’t like to get punched back! They are now realizing that the Lakers are the bigger tougher better team who can adjust and figure things out pretty quickly. Whoever wrote that Paul Pierce cries more than anyone is right on, that dude should be ashamed of himself to even think he’s better than any of the superstars in the league with the way he plays.

Funny, huh? When the vast majority of calls is in your favor no complaint. Other way ’round & “big problem”. Well, the Lakers have to play with the same officiating (&, yes, Phil’s been in same boat) & they’ve adjusted quite nicely. Wanna know what the real problem is? Do ya? Well, (& remember, I’m a die-hard Laker fan from ages gone bye) it’s this: the officiating has been TOO MUCH!! That’s right. This is the NBA Finals & neither team is being allowed to play the game that can provide is the most exciting moment in professional sports. There were, I think, 134 fouls called the 1st 2 games ~~ far too many for my taste & that of most NBA fans whether for or against either team. What happened to the “no harm no foul” concept of officiating? Did it die? Of course there will be fouls & some will happen at critical moments of any game but, for cryin’ outloud, let the teams play ~~ let the fans see the 2 best teams in the NBA this year compete on as even a basketball court as possible. If so, know what’ll happen? The truly best team WILL WIN the championship & the fans will see the best basketball rivalry ever add another group of legends to its storied past (& I don’t necessarily mean the superstars either ~ remember Fisher’s performance in game 3 & Allen’s in game 2?).

Wow cscha, what planet are you from? Is it not enough for the President of the United States to say that Kobe is the Best Player on the Planet? It’s clear that players whine because the officiating is just not good enough. It’s not their fault. Besides, I’ve seen many times when players even admit to fouls or last touches still to be ignored by officials, so it goes both ways. Furthermore, if it weren’t for the Lakers and Boston, no one would watch the Finals. Why don’t you stop hating on the Lakers and start thinking before you make your point? Don’t hate the players, hate the game.

I don’t know what games some people are watching but it is not the same ones that are being aired on T V. The Celtics whine about all the calls? I did see a bit of it from the Celtics, but if you want to see world class whining just look at the spoiled whinny a– Lakers. The leader of the whining is Pau, just watch him on almost any call, I think he is going to break out in real tears one of these times. The Lakers or as they are better known, Scum bag and the Whiners are a talented team, that I freely admit. They have some good talent (not the best ever because Kobe will never be that)and some of the worst i.e. Luke Walton who made it to the NBA on daddy’s name. He is perfect for a bench nimrod who can give them a body and who they don’t have to pay too much, but if he ever goes around waving the rings about and claiming to be a big time NBA champion he should be ashamed and will only become a laughing stock. As for the zen master well where do you think the players learn all that whining? Wonderful how such a storied team as the Lakers have degraded to so low a level.
