yea Im sure that the Lakers were more than likely the favorites in all those other meetings because for the most part they were the better team, but Boston played a little harder and wanted it more.. now this time besides being the better team again the Lakers want this more and are playing harder. and as far as rivalry goes I think Boston hates LA alot more than La hates Boston, maybe its because youre afraid that very soon we will cacth you and pass you in TITLES. cause you know that in every other major category you dont even come close to LA !

The real truth is the Celtics were smokin’ the crack pipe at KG’s beach house in Malibu before game 1 … I agree with Derrick. You could see the crack in their eyes. That’s also why Doc Rivers made that comment about ‘vacation’. They popped some hoes, smoked the pipe and got soft. Kids, this is why crack is bad for you … KG should do an ‘NBA Cares’ commercial about it.

i agree, the celts won most of there championships 40 years ago when i believve there was 8 to 10 teams in the leauge.the lakers won 9 in the last 20 years with 30 teams in the league. more competive and much harder to accomplish.

You’re looking at the point differential as if it mattered. Margins of victory doesn’t always tell the entire picture. Game 1 could have been EASILY a 30 point beat down but, like poker, the Lakers were not about to reveal all their hands in one play.
Game 2 will be tell all of the fans if this will be a series or not, and that doesn’t even require a 1-1 split. If Boston can come up with sound adjustments, whether in victory or in defeat, then this is a series. If they continue to be outplayed and outexecuted, then this series is over.
Miami did come back from an 0-2 deficit, which is something for all you Celtics fan can fall back on, but they did have a good counter against Dallas and that was D-Wade. Who does the Celtics have? It was supposed to be Rondo, but he hasn’t shown it yet.

The comments here read like the Laker’s fans want to switch to single-elimination. I’ve been a fan for over 40 years. Reading posts and quotes over the years makes me believe Laker’s fans are the most rabid, least knowledgable fans that follow any sport. Hard to find a basketball comment from any of the ones here.
“No question, better team” (after splitting the season series); “stealing cars”; “boxing”; “can’t contain Artest” (isn’t this the guy that completely lost his cool against ‘Sheed and the rest of the Pistons); “I see a sweep” (wanna back that up with cash? Say $1000. Post your e-mail address, Buck Rogers, and we’ll set it up). Astute observations all.

I am enjoying how the Lakers fans smell blood. Unfortunately, the blood is their own. Even with a miserable showing from the Celtics, they were in the game until the final minutes. Assuming Garnett and Rondo don’t have injuries they’re not talking about, the Celtics still win this in six. Then I’ll look forward to the Lakers fans bragging again as soon as the next season starts.

This is equivalent to saying UCLA still owns college basketball today because of all those championships they won under Coach Wooden (R.I.P).
The truth is, until 2008, the last time Boston was relevant was in the 1980s with the Bird and Magic rivalry.
The Lakers has dominated the NBA in the past 10 years (up there with the Bulls and Spurs) the same way Duke and North Carolina has dominated college basketball.

More hype for some ratings. By now the Celtics faithful (entire east coast) is really pumped up that the Cs will be able to pull the upset in Game 2. Highly doubt it.
Who knows? All this Celtics hype might even lead the Celtics faithful to believe they can pull an upset in Games 3 and 4. Lakers could take this in 4, but all delusions aside will probably require 5 or 6.

In the last 40 years the Celtics have 6 championships to the Lakers 10. In the last 10 years the Celtics have 1 championship to the Lakers 4. If you want to talk about the Celtics and their championship advantage, you have to bust out the history books. It’s been a long time since the Celtics were anything special. Hell, the Miami Heat has as many rings as the Celtics this decade.

Ahh the Ancient Celtics want their paint back, maybe they should go to Sherwin Williams and buy a few cans. Otherwise Gasol, Bynum and Odom own the paint on the floor and will continue to do so the rest of the series until they win. Maybe the Celts can start playing the girlie zone to keep the superior Lakers out of the paint. The Lakers are too tall and too good while the Celts are just too old and too short. Too bad Lakers in 6 games, maybe only 5 as that would be Sweet Revenge for how 2008 ended.

Last time the Lakers played Boston in 08, Lakers didn’t have Bynum and Ariza. But now we have it better. We got Thug on the court Ron Artest to bully Paul Pierce and Bynum to keep things on check with Pau. Posey was the only reason why Celtics won the finals anyway. He kept Kobe in check and didn’t get any credit for it. Remember game 4 when he hit those 2 3′s down the stretch. If it wouldn’t be from him, the the lakers will be playing for 3 peat.

Haha, thx for the laugh. Lakers in 5. I love all the east coast hype about Rondo and the ‘tough’ celtics. They haven’t met a team like the lakers who are playing their best of the season. Okay…game 2 will be very physical…The Celts will try to intimidate the lakers again and get Sheed and KG more shots…with Perkins saying KG needs twenty shots to beat the lakers…look for Kobe to double off of Rondo early in the game…not a real agressive doulbe but enough to force a pass over to Rondo…Rondo will have to hit shots in order for the Cees to win…same thing with Sheed…
Perk will get his final and eliminating tech Sunday no doubt about it…deep in the second quarter…
Look 4 Odom and Bynum to go off in a major way! Lakers will blow the game open at the top off the 4th…

What are you talking about? there’s nothing more, KG had 16 points, Sheed had a good game, Perk and Big Baby did what they can. The Boston team in game 1 was the same team that beat the Cavs and Orlando, it’s just that the Lakers played better and Boston finally got a good challenge.
Celtics Defense? Defense my A$$!!! Lakers played better defense and offense and will continue to do that in the following games.
Who’s gonna contain Rondo? Why? But pls. ask yourselves who’s gonna contain Kobe and Pau?
