Quote of the Day: Underestimate Kobe at your own peril

May 21, 2010, 10:00 PM EDT

“The notion I’m old and I won’t figure things out. That’s the part that’s really funny to me. Like I said, they should know me better”

-Kobe Bryant, courtesy of Lisa Dillman, who added this: “Yeah, Kobe looked so amused when he was making that last statement. Not.” Not good news for Phoenix and Orlando/Boston.

I can never get over how Kobe’s treated. He is pure talent. His game is smooth and fluid. He’s the complete package yet people are always disrespecting his game. 20 years from now we’ll still be talking about him and how he dominated the game of basketball in his era.
Maybe he was cursed with coming too close to Michael.
Lebron is like Magic but he needs his Bird and to wait for Kobe to retire.

Somehow I don’t think teams disrespect Kobe. The coaches and players know who he is and what he does.
It is the talking heads in the media who find it profitable to speculate on Kobe’s ‘declining’ skills. Yes, Charles, you are part of the talking heads.
