NBA Playoffs: Boston Celtics, Cleveland Cavaliers to start on Saturday – with more Reggie Miller

Apr 27, 2010, 11:40 PM EDT

The NBA league office has made it official — let the real fun in the Eastern Conference begin. With both Boston and Cleveland having now finished off their series, the two will start their second round series on Saturday.

Game one will be Saturday, game two Monday, with times for those games yet to be announced.

Both games will be on TNT. That means more Reggie Miller for your viewing pleasure.

Reggie Miller makes me want to swallow a shotgun.

“Viewing pleasure…”?? Yeah, if you’re a Boston fan, like Reggie, or a fan of any major-market team playing the Cavs. Miller, like another TNT analyst, Hubie Brown, always and invariably calls the game from the perspective of a coach or player on whatever team the Cavs are up against. Thus, there is plenty of excited rooting when the major-market plays well, and just as much peeved silence when the Cavs are playing well. But, always, the color commentary is limited to what the Cavs opponent must do to stop them on defense, or how to attack them on offense. It amazes me that neither of these broadcasting hacks can catch themselves so openly rooting for one team – maybe they are aware of it, but think it’s only natural and right, given how their employer feels about the game and its outcome.
