Compound that with how much he commands the ball. All the other lakers wing scorers are spot shooters and they have nobody else who can penetrate or beat their man one on one. They are unable to beat the defense and not only shooting threes but deep contested threes. Not a recipe for free throws.
They could get to the line more by posting Gasol more but Kobe makes it clear that they win and lose by and through him. Also contrary to what you hear Bynum is a grossly underdeveloped big man and is useless more than 3 feet from the hoop. They are only in the series because of Kobe’s greatness at times and the huge height advantage for rebounds and lane clogging. Overall the thunder are the more talented and better team. The Lakers for now have the greatest player on the court but the Thunder are a better team it’s not even close on the defensive end.
