I agree, "loaded" is very deceptive. The West is deep this year. The Spurs or Blazers in the first round will give the Lakers all they can handle, with or without Bynum but especially without him. I think the fact that they have been not just beaten but soundly beaten lately is cause for concern.

I am a HUGE Lakers fan and you are CORRECT in everything you wrote. The Lakers bench is not consistent and the team as a whole has had problems scoring as of late. They better clean up their act or they will have an early exit in the playoffs...period! I hear people saying that the Lakers are laying down because they have nothing to play for. BS! An attitude like that will surely come back to bite them in the @ss.
Sincerely,
A concerned Lakers fan

what a terrible evaluation of the lakers. the team isn't "loaded" even a little bit. they have a great starting five, and with bynum hurt and odom starting, they also probably have one of the worst benches in the nba.
i mean put farmar, brown, walton, powell and like vujacic against ty lawson, jr smith, birdman, malik allen and joey graham (petro has been starting in kmarts absence so all those guys are still coming off the bench)
those guys from the nuggets are putting up like 36 points, 7 or 8 assists, 2.5 blocks, and 15 boards compared to 22 points, 5 or 6 assists, .5 blocks and 8 boards.
im not saying the nuggets are the superior team, but their bench is obviously more intimidating than the lakers. i would take smith, lawson and bird over every single person coming off the lakers' bench when odom is in the starting lineup.
so no, this lakers team is the exact definition of a team that isn't "loaded" because being "loaded" implies both depth and talent. they have plenty of talent in their starters, maybe the best in the nba, but they are really thin after that.
IN SHORT: the lakers bench is terrible and they need bynum back not only because bynum is important to their success, but also because his return allows odom to come off the bench and provide a spark that none of their other bench players are even close to capable of providing on a consistent basis.

I forgot he was hurt. Would appear the Lakers have too. No big loss til they need 6 more fouls against Shaq/Z.
