Kurt,
Inserting Calderon into the starting line-up would be a solid move for Toronto to make against Atlanta.
Bibby is an opposition PG that Calderon can handle at the defensive end of the floor without too much difficulty, although he has gone off for some big offensive outbursts against Toronto in the past when Calderon has been drawn into help situations which necessitated leaving Mike open for easy Catch & Shoot 3's [i.e. which he simply devours].
Of more importance, however, are the secondary moves which Toronto should also make at this junctur of the season, in an effort to shore up the Team Defense which you've correctly pointed out as being putrid, thus far.
To wit:
* This should be the 8-Man Principal Rotation Toronot runs with against Atlanta.
STARTERS: Calderon/PG + DeRozan/OG + Turkoglu/SF + Johnson/PF + Bosh/C
KEY SUBS: Jack/PG, Weems/OG-SF and Bargnani/C
-------------------------------
RESERVES: Belinelli/OG, Wright/OG-SF, Evans/PF and Nesterovic/C
EXTRAS/OUTS: Banks and O'Bryant
The time for babying Andrea Bargnani is long since passed, and the 2006 No. 1 [overall] Draft Pick has to accept the fact that he can best serve the needs of this year's team by coming off the bench and providing long-range perimeter shooting, decent 1-on-1 low-post derfense against power-based bigs, and the occasional blocked shot.
