Ellis was sublime when Don Nelson went out at the end of November/ beginning of December. At that point he really was their only hope at winning any game. However, since that point their team has changed radically through injuries, signing D-Leaguers and other players stepping up. And Ellis was unable to maintain that sublimity for very long. However, he HAS managed to maintain his usage rates as his efficiency has dipped. This prevents the players who've earned more usage from getting it and throws the whole team out of whack. But I don't think its because Ellis is selfish per se, as much as he did not notice the shift in effectiveness as it occured and simply slid into a new paradigm as a high usage, low efficiency player. Its kind of sad and shows the danger of playing on a crappy team.
